Reviews of New World in Blue:
Cailyn, New World in Blue (CL Records) Beethoven, Dvorak, and Hendrix given equal weight? Sounds right. So does this EP from ace guitarist Cailyn Lloyd of Wisconsin's IX Lives band. Along with her own "Clouds" -- beautifully sung by pal Kelly Rose -- Lloyd expertly interprets those immortals, whetting the appetite for a full disc; especially is Rose is at the microphone. -- RA, Vintage Guitar Magazine

Cailyn is an amazing guitarist somewhere in the realm of early Joe Satriani or Yngwie Malmsteen, but with more melody. She starts off with her version of "Little Wing", which she pulls off very well and even throws in a few Eddie Van Halen licks for fun. The second song "Clouds" is much better and an original. Cailyn's songwriting shows through and of course the guitar is the focal point. The final two tracks are classical songs blended with rock, which has been done many times, yet she still pulls it off nicely and gives the classics a bit of her own style. Overall an impressive disc and a must have if you're into guitar virtuosos.

This four-song EP is another example of what you can do with a little equipment and a whole lot of creativity and talent. In this one, Cailyn has crammed enough variety to give us a sneak peek at an artist with a broad range of skills and interests that she will expand and refine as time passes.
The first cut, "Little Wing", by Jimi Hendrix is a way for Cailyn to show she can equal the late, great master of guitar. She really owns this song. The second cut, "Clouds", is written by Cailyn herself and there's enough promise in this one song to make a listener want to hear more original material.
The last two cuts are examples of Cailyn indulging herself in reworking classical compositions. I think her efforts on the Dvorak piece yield better results than on the piece by Ludwig B. She eschews playing any guitar on the Beethoven piece and the music is weaker for it.
Summary: A really good first effort. Keep an eye out for more recordings by this unique artist -- Bullfrogmusic.com

Cailyn Lloyd can play with the best of them. Her take on Jimi Hendrix' Little Wing is both reverential and expansive, with Lloyd adding her own little touches without really changing the original. Vocalist Ric Prida is in fine form here. Lloyd's original composition Clouds includes some decent guitar soloing, but is fairly light in content and composition. New World In Blue is an arrangement of Dvorak's Ninth Symphony, Movement 2. The piece has a Malmsteen-like quality to it without all of the grandiosity. For Elise is Lloyd's arrangement of Beethoven's Fur Elise. It is reverent of the original but done primarily on electric instruments.
