Hello,

i'm writing to you from le meridien hotel in stuttgart. It's a lovely sunny day here and i'm just back from a little wander. I'm leaving shortly to go and soundcheck at the venue we're playing tonight.

I've had a pretty incredible few days. Thing's have just went so well.
It all started in Zurich a few days ago. My band and i were performing at the swiss music awards we had a great time and it was even better as i picked up 2 awards. Best International song and Best International album(beating coldplay).
It was amazing and i felt so honoured to be there.

After Zurich we travelled to Berlin for the Echo awards. We spent all of Friday at the O2 world doing rehersals for the show which took place on Saturday. The O2 world in Berlin is amazing. It's only a few months old so everything is brand new and the place is huuuuge!
Our rehersals went really well and we spent the evening at a charity dinner. There was comedy and speeches but it was a bit hard to understand as it was all in German.

So Saturday came and it was very exciting. I was so lucky to be able to perform at such a massive event. It was great performing on the same stage as people like U2, Lionel Richie, Razorlight and Depeche Mode.

At Around 730pm I had to go outside to do the red carpet. I find red carpets really embarrasing. I can't get my head round people wanting my autograph or photos of me. It's strange. So half way through getting my photos taken i saw that someone was hiding behind me and it turned out to be LIONEL RICHIE!! We had a wee chat and then had lots of photos taken together. It was surreal. Lionel is such a massive star and he was standing there with me!! Nuts!

So once i was finished with the red carpet I went inside the arena. Tina, who works for my German label, told me she had something for me. It was a piece of cardboard with a note saying 'Amy come and say hello to your fan club' signed Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam. I couldn't believe it. I was completely shell shocked! U2 wanted to meet me!!!! Pete(my manager) and I basically stood in silence for about 10 minutes, not knowing what to say.

We went to the side of the stage to watch U2 perform. They were amazing.
About 5 minutes later their PA came to find us and said that the note was an invitation and we should come and say hello. We were frantically trying to get Sarah to come down as she was the only one with a camera, she was running all over trying to find us and luckily she got there in time.

We went into thier dressing room and i was so nervous. I couldn't quite believe it. We all said hello and i was just so shocked that U2 actually knew who i was. Larry seemed to know the most and was talking to me about my videos and said that he thought it was brilliant that i was doing my own thing and wasn't like any of the other female artists that are around just now. He said he thought it was wonderful that i was so unique. I'm still in total shock. Pete explained to Bono how we all met and how everything had started. We were in there for about 30mins just talking and drinking. All of the guys were so nice, and so down to earth. They were all joking and taking the piss out of each other :-) We talked about The Killers and The kings of Leon, 2 of my favourite bands who have both toured with U2.I was gutted i had to leave, but i was due on stage very soon.
I asked if we could get a quick picture and it turned out so well, which i was happy about.

Pete, Sarah and i then had to head very quickly to the aritist pit as they were about to announce the winner of best international newcomer. I was up against people like Duffy and Leona Lewis, i really didn't expect to win as i tend to be completely ignored by all award ceromonies, to my amazement i did win!! It was incredible and it means so much to me. Germany is one of the biggest musical terrotories and to be recognised here is amazing.

After the show the band and i had alot of champagne :-)

A few days later i played my biggest gig to date infront of 7000 people!!! It was great!

Things are going so well for me now and i've had an amazing few days.Thankyou to everyone for all the continued support

What a fantastic week, the picture with Bono & band is great!! ..You getting the 3 awards was wonderful news for us, knowing one of my favorite artist is recognized by the professionals and by the public feels great. Btw, I'm wondering which artist in Europe wouldn't know who you are, it's impossible lol! ..You say that you tend to be completely ignored by all award ceromonies, but as we all know this won't last for long, I can bet a lot that in the next coming years you'll be in the spotlights ie highly recognized in lots of countries for the wonderful music you do. There I can just agree with Larry's statements =) ..Have fun Amy! =) xx ..

Amy, what more could we say? You are brilliant and this is only the beginning of your success !! .. ..Let me tell you one thing: the Bonus CD included in the Special Edition of “This is the life” is wonderful. “This is the life” itself is amazing, but the Bonus CD is the perfect complement. For example, your version of “Fairy Tale of New York” is simply impressive, very, very moving. .. ..Amy: you deserve all the best. Yes, you're music is coming to latin america lol. ..You're amazing, your music and your lyrics are awesome, I haven't words to describe it itsso special. You don't have bad songs. I listened your album in the street, in the beach, in my house, in every place you could imagine. Your lyrics are the best in the world, I'm not joking, you're inspiration. Fantastic concert in Dresden, Amy … I was completely blown away. .. ..I got the ticket as a Birthday Present (I won’t say how old, but there was a quiet a wide age range at the Dresden Concert without my contribution) and only got your CD (Deluxe Edition) ~10 days before hand. Several songs really struck a cord with me, thanks to your fabulous vocals/lyrics. But I really wasn’t prepared for the force of nature that is Amy MacDonald *LIVE* … and I was at the back of the venue! .. ..I am sure there are many more awards in the pipe-line and I am looking forward to your next tour … I’ll be the ejit at the front, making a complete foul of myself and loving every second. .. ..Any plans for a Live/Acoustic DVD? .. ..Now I wish I had taken up an instrument or become a Roadie. Anyway, I must get back to pestering friends with stories about the concert … B^] .. ..P.S. - ‘Mr Brightside’ gave me Goosebumps!

I'll tell you a secret, don't give it away: "Hallelujah" wasn't written by Jeff Buckley but by Leonard Cohen. And Bushido's "Für immer jung" is actually a cover of Alphaville's "Forever Young", but you shouldn't say this in a room full of Bushido fans unless you're in for a fight ;-) Take care

Dear Amy,..How fantastic for you that you had a chance to meet Bono and his gang... They are SO cool! Even if it might give you a strange feeling: You have the same effect on some people as U2 has on you! :). Last year I saw you at Pinkpop festival in The Netherlands. Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad and you had a major delay. A short gig of about 10 minutes was still enough to impress the people... for sure you impressed me! I just could not get enough and I was hoping to be able to see more of you...This was not really a secret so I got 2 Tickets as a X-mass present for the concert in Stuttgart last wednesday :-)))) JIPPPPPYYYYY!!! Me and my Boyfriend managed to get al the way to the front of the stage. Again you impressed us, gave us chicken skin and made me realize what a creative mind you have. I just would like to thank you for you music! Enough fan-chat for now... I just need to tell you one thing more: 'I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SHOES YOU WERE WARING!' Oh you really deserve it! We watched the show and your performing was just awesome! You saying "Ich habe ein Kaninchen" was so cute, we couldn't stop laughing!^^ ..And thanks a lot for the gig yesterday evening in Bochum!! It was just.. dunno, I'd say it was like the best day of my life but that sounds corny^^ But we definitely didn't have so much fun for a long time!! We knew that your music's absolutely amazing and touching, but we didn't know that you're so humorous and down to earth! ;) ..Best wishes to you and your band, keep on rocking! ;) ..

I still have to download your music at the club's jukebox, so I usually start with, "Mr. Rock and Roll". It costs $1.00 US a song but if it is downloaded enough times, the album will move onto the, "in box", playlist, at that time the price will drop to $.50 That's my goal, at least one of them :)

OMG that is amazing!!! you lucky girl :)....U2 are fantastic and are one of my most favourite bands. I have met them once while coming back from a trip in Dublin when I was 19 and that was just amazing, I was shaking like a leaf and babbling sentences without any kind of sense from the shock since that was completely unexpected (they were in Paris shooting the video of their song Beautiful Day). They truly are amazing people and are very kind and down to earth. I too had some pictures taken but unfortunately some freak that was in my group turned on the panoramic shooting mode (probably thinking they were turning the camera on XD) and all the pictures came out with these awful black stripes on the edges lol! :)....I take the chance to say I think you rock, I really like your music and your voice! keep the great work up ^^....Aly
