With all the time I've been spending inside this summer (
yippy...), I've begun to re-examine a dilemma that's been bothering my friends and I for a good while now. It all revolves around the audio of player communication in online games (more specifcally, online first person shooters...aka FPS) and some of the varying types of people that play these games.
You see, two such groups annoy the crap out of me. The first is that of the prepubescent boy. These little punks run around the servers and maps chirping like little annoying birds, laughing at anything and everything stupid and idiotic. Nad what's worse is when they frag you because then you have to face their sore winner qualities.
The second of these two groups is that of the friggin' annoying chubby girls. Now I hate to stereotype this group as being all of the slighty to completely overweight people playing, but all the people that fit this group happen to be in this physical condition. Anyways, these "ladies" are usually ruder than the most immature guy playing and are always out to prove their worthyness and get some guys to start drooling over them because they happen to be the opposite sex.
So what do these two groups of people have in common besides annoying the shit out of everyone else? They both sound the same through the microphones and headsets. It's the same higher pitch squealing that I am find everywhere I play. And it annoys me. Actually, it annoys me so much that it provokes me into focusing everything I have on that one individual. I don't care if it gets me a negative kill/death ratio, etc., so long as that one individual stays down. Sure I could mute them, but I find it more of a public service to eliminate the disturbance instead.
