I've always lived near a big city. When I lived near Jacksonville, Florida, the sky was always purple because of the low clouds and reflected city lights. Even when I lived in Lake Oswego, OR, the nearby Portland cuased a good chunk of the sky to become hidden by the radiated lights. It's a tragedy that corrupts the beauty of our world, but what can one do?
Living in Melbourne, Florida, has let me experience a world I never really knew. During this weekend, there was a meteor shower. And let me tell you, you haven't seen one until you lay down on a pitch black beach and just stare up at the vast, cloudless sky and watch teh show as the sound of waves gently sound around you.
This apparently is a vary popular activity, however, since I saw no one else down there. Guess some people don't know what they are missing.
