Nicolas Marmin (a.k.a_bondage) has been playing music since 1995.
His first project -together with Arnaud Durand- OSAKA BONDAGE (1995-2002) moved from self-constructed musical objects + noise & electro acoustic improvisations to an avant-rock project when the drummer Hugues Villette joined the band.
Three CD's/LP's, various pieces on compilations, many works for the cinema, theatre, contemporary ballets, various live collaborations with Erik M, Voicecrack, Kasper Toeplitz..., & finally more than 50 concerts in-out France made OSAKA BONDAGE one of the major band in the area of the Avant-Garde Rock in the late 90's scene.
After the band collapsed in 2002, Nicolas took the aka_bondage pseudo and went on various collaborations. In 2003, he was commissioned to perform a live meeting for the LU festival in Nantes, in association with Hugues Villette again (who started in between with Séverine Krouch his own project 2kilos&more http://www.myspace.com/2kilosandmore) & Black Sifichi http://www.myspace.com/blacksifichi, well known for his spoken words works and loads of collaborations. Around 15 other concerts in ....France.... and abroad followed, alongside to the recording of 'Fear the window' CD in 2004 (out on Wallace rec. & Ronda rec.) under the name of [1] KILO OF BLACK BONDAGE.
Together with Olivier Manchion, they gathered in France and Italy two teams that were to carry sounds for the Damo Suzuki Network project (Damo Suzuki is the ex singer from CAN). In ....France...., this project led to the foundation of the FRENCH DOCTORS ('La crème' of French Avant-noise-rock, including also Edward Perraud, Sebastien Borgo & Franck le Quengo). A 'Damo Suzuki & the French Doctors' tour occurred in 2004. As a result, a double cd featuring ....Paris....'s live at the café de la danse concert was then released ('Hollyaris'). In addition to it, a film about Damo Suzuki 'Le chant de l'Imprévu' has been released by Jerome Florenville / CNC, Canari Prod. Included some excerpts of the FD + damo shows. Check out the THE FRENCH DOCTORS' page'http://www.myspace.com/frenchdoctors'>.
Another connection to this is 'L'AUTOPSIE A REVELE QUE ..LA MORT ETAIT.. DUE A L'AUTOPSIE', a recent project featuring Argentinean musician Alan Courtis, Sebastien Borgo, Frank le Quengo and aka_b : first live appearance occurred in Feb 2007 then second assault with another MiniTour de France in Feb. 2009.
... Nicolas started to work a few arrangements for the PERMANENT FATAL ERROR record, Law Speed. Then, he played bass, guitars & electronics on many concerts that followed the release of the record on Wallace, Klangbad & Ruminance in 2004.
Willing to take part to the process of arrangements, he joined Marc Nguyen Than's COLDER project in 2005. Definitely the most mainstream project he's worked for, Nicolas has performed around 50 concerts since then and made most of the bass lines arrangement for the stage performance, until the Band ceased to exist.
Always eager for collaborations, aka_bondage crossed sword both live & studio with many different people, including Alan Courtis (Reynols), Von Magnet, Pascal Battus, Jeff Gburek or the hip-hop duo dDamage... Check for example the recent Rolax Sampler Label with aka_bondage RudDe collab.
Recently, Nicolas has developed multiple collaborations with Italian-Basque musician Xabier Iriondo 'http://www.myspace.com/xabieririondo who is one of the most prolific musician in the Italian 'New Music Scene'.
In addition to it, Xabier & Nicolas, associated to Jerome Florenville created another musical project OLEO STRUT, a part-time collaboration of French & Italian musicians including on the first released work : Guillaume Beauron, Xabier Iriondo, Ravi Shardja or Alessandro Stefana (http://www.myspace.com/alessandrostefana)... all of whom self-produced the editing, mixing, mastering, releasing and marketing of Oleo Strut, a mini-CD released in co production with Italian Label Wallace ('s-t', Wallace, 2006).
Since 2007, aka_bondage has been working with Ibrahim Quraishi's Compagnie Faim de Siecle on the "5 streams" show, which was re-premiered in Amsterdam - Utrecht in 2006 and led the company to the National Museum of Singapour for a series of representation in 2007. The musical team includes aka_bondage, Norscq and Nicolas Lelièvre (Quattrophage) all stage-arranging the electronic atmospheres originally created by Norscq.
