So, the first week has come and gone.
It feels a little like this whole thing is teetering on the edge of really taking off and being a total success, or falling flat. It's felt like that all along; my mind (or ego?) has left no middle ground for moderate success.
So far, though, that's exactly what it's been, from a subscription standpoint.
To hit the goal of $30,000 - I need to make just over $82.00/day. So far, according to these fancy excel spreadsheets, I've technically made just over $200/day. (but I did do a lot of pre-sales this summer in the forum, so that's a little misleading.)
(The 2,607 is the income, and the 1,588 is what I have spent so far.)
That is, if you don't count the car.
A friend (who has requested that he remain anonymous) called me the other night while I was out renting a movie and said that he had found a car I needed to take a look at. We'd been talking about what car would be the best replacement for the beat-up old Accord I've been traveling around in, and we settled on a CR-V.
"I found one, but it's closer to where you live than where I am"
"Where's that?"
"About 9 miles from your house. On Gallatin Road".
"shut. up. I'm *on* Gallatin road right now."
So we changed course and went to take a look at it.
It's a 2002, with only 61,900 miles on it. In the life of a Honda, it's basically a teenager.
Before the night was through, I drove it home.
A certain amount was put towards the car as a gift, and the remaining balance was paid in full up-front - I'll pay it back to the guy
at 0% interest.
Here are a couple pictures...
For anyone that saw us near the end of the last tour... Myself,
Gary Nock, and Matthew all crammed (with gear and merch) into a 1992 Honda Accord... this looks and feels like Heaven.
