The European Foundation Centre (EFC) promotes and underpins the work of foundations and corporate funders active in and with Europe. Established in 1989 by seven of Europe's leading foundations, the EFC today has a membership of over 160 independent funders. Among its iniciatives is Funders Online, a data base on European Philanthropic Community.

As the European Union's action in the sphere of culture is not tied to the cultural policies of the States or regions of Europe and has a raison d'etre of its own and is clearly defined by the EU Treaty (Article 151), the Europa server hosts a whole section dedicated to culture.
