Our state governments have been passing laws like mad recently regarding smoking and a variety of other issues.  I have absolutely NO problem with a smoke free working environment for most situations and I am for any child-focused establishment being smoke free.  My problem is that a business owner should have the right to choose whether or not to permit smoking in their establishment.  It should be your right as a business owner to choose any and all legal activities in YOUR business.  Alot of non-smokers smoke while they are drinking.  Wouldn't it make sense for bars to allow smoking?  Secondly, there are many factories (i.e. foundries) that it makes absolutely no difference whether you smoke or not.  Most foundry employees that have worked there entire life in these conditions die within 2-3 years from thoat or lung cancer.  Steel dust and Silica Sand are wonderful on your respiratory system.(NOT)  I believe on July 1st, all of these employees will be required by law to wear respirators at all times while working.  Great!  However, many people will sneak off the job just to have a smoke.  They might hide the evidence and catch the whole place on fire.  General Motors tried to go smoke free.  It didn't work.  Productivity went down and they had several cigarette related fires.  Guess what, they are not smoke free now.  I wonder why?  Lastly, Illinois is trying to pass a law that makes it illegal to smoke in your home unless it is completely paid off.  If you have an appartment or a house with a motgage on it, forget it.  They want to fine you for every little f'ing thing they can.  What next?  Can't eat while your driving?  Can't talk on your cell phone in public?  Can't blow your nose or wipe your ass without permission from your local or state government?  What is happening to our freedoms in this country?  Is our government secretly changing from democracy to communism?  Doesn't it seem like our governments want to control everything we do?  The Iowa smoking laws have gone from liberal to conservative to middle of the road and all over again.  Now they are meeting in secret to discuss how this should be rolled out.  They don't want to influence the outcome of the presidential election.  If you believe in something strongly, stand up for it without reget.  What a bunch of f'ing pussies.  Thankfully we still have freedom of speech.......for now.
