Current mood: thankful Category: Music
Monday night, I was walking to a show that Wildstreet's guitarist Jimmie Marlowe was playing in the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the early evening. Supposed to meet up with the person who subletted my bedroom while we were on our tour, I had stepped just off the sidewalk onto the crosswalk/street, I was on Avenue B, a rather narrow street at the north side of E. 4th Street. In the seconds while I was looking down at my phone, a 14ft Cargo Truck going approximately 20mph turned left onto Avenue B from E. 4th St. When the van hit me, the impact threw me 5 feet into the street and all 5 of his air bags went off.. The vehicle hit me square in the back and later the driver claimed that I was standing in his "blind spot.. He was reckless and at fault and he knew it.. Surprisingly even me, I got right up after the impact, with no broken bones, only minor cuts and bruises on my left leg, back, arms and obliques. Still, I went to hospital and tolerated a thorough examination...All the Cat scans and X-rays showed no internal injuries.. (Although the doctors wouldn't believe my usual spaced out speech and mannerisms weren't the result of a concussion..argh)
Now, 5 days later, I have a lot of really tight muscles in my back, neck and shoulders.. It sucks, but I consider myself very lucky to be alive and have no severe permanent damage..
With that said, between all the physical soreness, police reports, and stress mentally/emotionally, its taken a few days to get back to everyone and tell ya what happened. Thanks to all you who reached out to me/us since Monday! Wildstreet's got the best fans/friends ever all across the country and the world!! Thank you, you ROCK!!
Love Eric Jayk
