Here's a new feature I'm calling the Deadbeat Promoter Hall of Shame. These are the shiesty ones, the time-wasters, the ones who don't send deposits, the ones who ignore your contract points.
First entry:
I got dicked 2 summers ago by this guy. I played for him but didn't get paid (he snuck out of the club while I was on the decks). I had played for this guy for 10 years with no problems so I didn't get my dough before I played and he caught me slippin'. He dicked Johnny Fiasco too the same way. Johnny e-mailed me to warn me but it was too late.
So this year when I was in Berlin he e-mailed and told me he'd pay me what he owed me + new fee for a new gig. OK, cool. Told him I wasn't promoting the gig on my sites or getting on a plane without 1/2 upfront. Weeks go by, I go back to the States, no deposit. He keeps telling me he's gonna send it. Meanwhile he books a flight. Still no deposit. I tell him he wasted his money if I don't see a deposit. I give him my Paypal address at the bottom of every e-mail just so he can't say he never got it. He says money's on its way. The morning of the supposed flight sure enough no deposit. Just didn't go. He had me on the flyer as the headliner and people went to see me. I'm leaving a lot out.
So if this guy contacts you to play either get 100% upfront or don't bother. There's some other people right now who are looking like they will enter the Hall of Shame soon so stay tuned!
