2007 was another year full up and downs of musicial adventures on stage, cd/vinyl albums and meeting musicians. So look forward to visit all the gigs and hear some great tunes again next year.

Finally this year released Nomad SoundSystem thier debut album. This Berlin bassed collective mix Nortern Africa and Arabic sounds with club beats. Without any doubt one of my favorite albums of the year!
Manu Chao's La Radiolina is released after 6 years not any regular studio album released, this album goes forward where Manu Chao's last album Proxima Estacion.. Esperanza ending.
Creation Rebel; Trojan records re-mixed, re-visioned and re-versiond by DJ Spooky. On this album DJ Spooky remixed 14 tracks from the big Trojan records archive with tracks re-mixed, re-visioned and re-versioned from Dawn Penn, Bob Marley, Upsetters and Barrington Levy.
Breathing Under Water is the title between the collaboration of Anoushka Shankar and Karsh Kale. Both they made already thier fame with releasing thier own stuff on San Francisco's Six Degrees records and now finally team up for an amazing record together. On the album is a number of great collaborations on like Sting, Midival PunditZ, Anouskha's father Ravi and half sister Norah Jones.
After a long silence released Radiohead thier album In Rainbows last november. The most songs of this album are into direction of OK Computer; a right balance of electronica and rock music
Except this records there where also nice records released by pioneers of nu ethnic fusions TransGlobal Underground (Moonshout), Iraqi and French collective Aïwa (Remixed, volume one with remixes from thier debut album Elnar), the debut album of Notecrusher (Afterparty In The Afterlife which combinated breakbeats, electro dub and funk with Middle Eastern, Indian African and eastern European vibrations) and all releases of Six Degrees records Emerging Artists (Zaman8, Jef Stott and David Starfire)
Look forward early next year again to the releases of Visionary Underground second album Fired Up, Process Rebel and Asian Dub Foundation.
Gonna be next year released Deeder Zaman's debut album Minority Large??? Finally after all the years of silence the album is planned to be released late january 2008 in Japan.
gigs (no order):
Gétachèw Mékurya, The Ex & Guests live @ Paradox in my hometown Tilburg. Totally suprised about this gig because didn't expect that much about this gig because the fusion of experimental rock, free jazz rhythms and election organ of Ethiopian funk.
Nomad SoundSystem live @ Labyrinth in Paradiso, Amsterdam. In a totally packed upstairs room they played an hour set of Northern Africa and Arabic sound with heavy beats. Responsible for this kind of music are the different roots of the members of Nomad SoundSystem in Asia, Africa and Europe. Without any doubt was this Nomad SoundSystems best gig i'm seen this year!
911 Power To The Peaceful festival @ Golden Gate park in San Francisco. A fantastic free festival with concious performances with DJs, spoken word and bands at 2 different stages. This year at the 9th edition of festival where performances of Nicodemus, DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid, Lorin Bassnectar, Amy Goodman and Michael Franti /Spearhead.
The begin of the festival was starting pretty hard because i'm was low energy after i'm came home early morning from Get Freaky @ Folsom 1015 where i'm saw Lorin Bassnectar, David Starfire and FreqNasty.
Mundial festival @ Leypark in my hometown Tilburg; firstly this was amazing because my English friend Rajpreet come down for the festival and some of the line up of this 20th edition of the festival where i'm turning more into world music than the ''Asian Underground" that i'm start to listening after discover Asian Dub Foundation mid 90ies.
This year the had a lot of wonderful music again in the line up shared over the 2 days of festival. firstly one of the biggest suprise was seeing punk 'n' bass skankers La Phaze, Russian female folk-punk from Iva Nova, the biggest Balkan hype of thisw moment Shantel & Bucovina Club and Amsterdam Klezmer Band (again).
