Ok, since my account was comprimised a couple of weeks ago, I have gone on a rampage blocking users that spam me.

You can't kind of tell if someone's account is being used without their knowledge. If that is the case, I'll just delete the comment and send the person a message.

However, there are a number of "users" that I have come accross whose MySpace page is a direct link to a new page that will look just like a login page for MySpace. This is where the password phisher wil get your password because you unknowingly enter your login and password. Boom, you are now sending penis enlargement and ringtone spams...

This one "user" kept posting comments on my page. I kept trying to click the block user option and I kept getting taken to that fake MySpace loging page. When I moved the mouse around the screen, the whole screen was a link! They had it so you couldn't block them...

Well, I copied their MySpace user # from the URL. I then clicked on a different person's page and clicked the "Block User" option on their page. Now I didn't follow through on the prompt "Do You Want to Block this User", instead, I pasted the offending MySpace User # into the URL that was generated to block the other user. I pasted over the user # in the URL, and then scrolled to the end of the URL and hit return.

I then followed through on the blocked this user prompt and presto! NO MORE PENIS ENLARGEMENT SPAMS FROM THIS USER!! I am soooo happy!

So if you run across any blantantly obvious fake accounts trying to spam you, you can use this method to manual block them!

I hope this helps! I am more than just a musician, I am MySpace Policewoman!

Yes - thanks for the info. I've run into those type of accounts before. They put an invisible .gif picture that is the size of their whole page into their profile and link it to a phishing site. If you click anywhere on their profile it takes you to the site they have set up. However, using their membership ID and the instructions Beth has so kindly posted here, you can still deal appropriately with their account.

Cheers!

I have found that the adds you have have mentionsed have in fact been hacked. repeatedly I have posted a bulleting about what comments to look for. Some of the comments in question leave code that can effect the entire page. Apparently it is time to post it again. I encourage everyone to read bulletins concerning hacker information.

And just imagine, you were already almost too awesome as a musician. Now you're an IT professional! lol. This really will save a lot of people a headache. Too many spammer accounts are being created on myspace. It's good to check out somebody's profile before accepting them as a friend. If there are any links on their page or if it says, "I just like having fun and making money, 'click here for online surveys'" do not add them! The myspace team needs to implement new and effective ways of verifying people's identities.
