greetings and salutations, true believers.
well, i’ll start by saying that it’s been a hot minute since we’ve posted anything. things have been very chaotic here at the Blueprint camp, so i apologive for leaving you guys high & dry. But, fear not! We have lots of exciting news to share, so let’s get down to it.
currently, the five of us are holed up at Milkhouse Recording Studio in Allston, MA working on new recordings. We arrived on Apr. 1st and plan on calling the studio home until... well, until whenever we decide that it’s done. For those of you who don’t know about Milkhouse, it’s owned and run by our long-time friend Kevin Ennis (formally of New Hartford’s own, Oblique). Ennis (as he will be refered to for the remainder of the blog to avoid confusion with our own Kevin Sullivan) recorded our first full length album Since You’ve Been Gone when we were still too young to by tobacco products. Ennis has an amazing sense of the sound we are looking for and is one of the smartest musician/producers i’ve ever worked with and i can honestly say that, so far, this has been the smoothest session that we’ve ever had recording anything.
but you know what? that don’ t really mean much until you hear the album now does it? we are currently re-recording four tracks from The Days are Just Packed and writing another brand new track in the studio. so far, this is what we’re looking at...
(in no particular order)
1. Welcome to the New Midwest
2. Every Story has a Villian
3. the Boy Who Cried Wolf (the Ballad of...)
4. the Queen and the Pawn
5. No Safe Harbor (the Battle of...)
we’ll go over "musical" stuff , including the new song, at a later time though. As of right now, i want to discuss the city of Boston. With the exception of Steve (who loves the Red Sox, thus making him a box of tools) we are all die-hard New York Yankees fans, so we expected a serious backlash from the locals. This, however, was not the case. So far, we have had an amazing time on "enemy territory". Props are in order for Bravo’s Pizza here in Allston. If you ever happen to be in Allston, stop in for 2 Slices and a Schwepp’s Ginger Ale, you will not be dissapointed... unless you’re Nick, who would like to thank all the Subway restaurants in the greater Boston area.
Subway, Eat Fresh... apparently.
Before we left Utica, we used our Jedi Mind powers to convince Nick to drop some dough on a new video camera, so now through the magic of technology you will soon be able to view the video diaries of our studio stay and our time workng with Ennis. so, stay tuned for that, as soon as someone figures out how to actually edit out all the dead air.
well kids, two days down and here is where we stand.
-drums are complete, ready for mixing.
-distorted guitars/palm-muted guitars are complete and ready for mixing.
-todays agenda: bass track and lead guitars.
i’m gonna call it quits for now, but don’t fret.
Part. 2 will be up on Friday... so be on the lookout.
everything is in its’ right place.
