TO DEBUT INDEPENDENT ARTIST SHOWCASE
DURING RED GORILLA
MUSIC FEST 2009
Hit songwriters, Matt
Brouwer and Evangeline, to Headline Showcase
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. (February 2009) – The independent label management firm Indie
Extreme will spotlight 4 of their independent acts during its first
annual Independent Artist Showcase on the rooftop of the
Blind Pig Pub on 6th Street in Austin, TX from
4 p.m. – 8pm on March 19 (Thursday).
The
event which is sponsored by Stage Sponsor Initial Underwriting Group,
and Silver Sponsors Music Arsenal and Project: AK-
47, which is an official part of the RedGorilla Music Fest, will
feature a performance at 6 p.m. by hit singer-songwriter Matt Brouwer
and at 7 p.m. by hit songwriting team, Evangeline.
This will be the first appearance of these 2 artists at the premier
Austin showcases during the largest gathering of music fans and industry
executives in the country.
Brouwer
will be performing songs from his
newest album, currently in digital release, Where’s
Our Revolution produced by Grammy winning producer, Michael
Omartian. The album has already garnered international award nominations,
airplay and is currently gaining ground at college radio stations throughout
the USA.
Evangeline,
whose first single “Rain”
from their debut album, We’re Alright Down Here,
rose to #129 on the Top40 MediaBase Chart in early 2008 and #9 on the
Indie Top40 MediaBase Chart, will be showcasing some of their yet unrecorded
songs along with the tunes from their album.
Other
acts taking the stage for 20-minute sets will be Nashville- based R&B
Fusion singer-songwriter Traci Root
(5:30 p.m.), and California
native Christian singer-songwriter
Quimi (5:00 p.m.). Admission to the event is free.
“Each
of our prior Indie Extreme Independent Artist Showcases
at other industry events have been a huge success, so when we
were offered this opportunity by RedGorilla to host a Day Party we felt
it was time to expand into Austin,” said company CEO Kathy Douglas,
who founded the Nashville-based company in 2006. “Matt Brouwer
plans to perform several selections from his limited release album.
He will be joined by several of our other highly acclaimed acts that
perform in a variety of musical styles. There’s no doubt it
will be a highlight of the RedGorilla Music Fest.”
Indie
Extreme moved its national headquarters from Houston to Nashville in
mid- 2007. The fast-growing international firm supports independent
artists and record labels by providing administrative and managerial
services such as distribution, correspondence, bookkeeping, CD/merchandise
fulfillment, marketing, database development, web site development,
management/maintenance, e-commerce management, and the coordination
of vendor services.
Douglas
added that Indie Extreme is staging the Independent Artist Showcase
with the RedGorilla Music Fest
to help build exposure for professional and emerging independent acts.

Matt Brouwer www.mattbro.com. The Canadian singer-songwriter
has landed hits on the Billboard chart (I Shall Believe)
and the New Music Weekly Hot 100, AC, Indie AC, and Top 40 charts (Surrender).
His other CDs, Unlearning, B-sides Recording Vol. 1, and A
Merry Little Christmas, follow his award-winning and critically

Evangeline www.evangelinegroup.com, a four-member band from
Houston, TX led by songwriters-storytellers Jeffery Armstreet
and Jonathan Barrick. The act uses its soulful pop, rock
and folk-accented music to communicate the depths of life’s struggles
and challenges in relationships, choices, death, life and faith.
Acclaimed producer and EMI recording artist Robbie Seay produced the
act’s first album, We’re Alright Down Here, which gained
national attention when it’s first single (Rain) landed at
#129 on the Top40 Billboard chart and #9 on the Indie Top40 Billboard
chart. The song was also featured on a VH1 Radio interview segment with
Evangeline and on Continental Airlines InFlight magazine playlist.

Traci Root www.traciroot.com, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter
whose performances in Southeast Asia have drawn up to 40,000 people.
The artist has received critical acclaim for a style that combines classic
R&B with modern soul, jazz and hip-hop. This
two-time ASCAPlus award-winning songwriter made it to Round 2 of American
Idol’s auditions in New Jersey, (that would put her in the top 1%
of the 10,000 hopefuls and/or skeptics who showed up to audition), she
was picked out of the crowd by Fox News to sing a Stevie Wonder tribute
live to New Jersey, New York and Washington DC. She was also a 2007
Independent Music World Series Northeast Semi-finalist.In December of
2008.

Quimi www.myspace.com/quimimusic, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter
who “pours out her heart and soul” through rocking vocals and an
acoustic guitar to show her love for Jesus Christ. The soft-spoken
yet enthusiastic artist recently stepped onto the music scene with her
self-titled debut CD. A former nationally ranked tennis player,
Quimi has been writing songs for five years. Her 10-song CD, which
was produced by The Katinas, features charismatic vocals and funk, jazz
and reggae-accented songs.
“Today,
it’s harder than ever for artists to land major record deals or for
smaller labels to receive substantial radio airplay and record sales,”
Douglas noted. “Indie Extreme levels the playing field by providing
all of the administrative and managerial resources they need.
