Summer… I don't like it, generally. I don't sleep well in the heat. It's oppressive.
And the last few years forest fires in the area have made the air where I live worse than L.A. – Peking bad.
But this one was pretty great with those exceptions. I had opportunities to travel, met some wonderful people, saw some old and dear friends, and had many enjoyable musical experiences.
Highlights: Lovely Marnie came from Texas to visit with our family. We'd never met except via those wacky interwebs but it was pretty much an instant love-fest and one that'll be life-long.
Accompanying my younger daughter, an excellent travel buddy, to JFK where she met with her Up With People Leadership Camp peeps.
Meeting Lee Feldman and his sweet family. Playing music with Jason Smay and working with Dave Anderson at Saxon Recording Studios – fleshing out the basic tracks we started there with help from Doug Hill, Bob DiChiro, Sam Cuenza, Lee Feldman, John Maxwell, and Radim Zenkle (and maybe a few more folks) so far is the most exciting musical project I've ever been part of.
Spent time with one of my first musical cohorts and family outside of Boston and spent a day walking the historic districts of that fine city.
Helped launch our other daughter's school year adventure at a wonderful performing arts high school.
Portland's arboreum. Seeing favorite store buddies at the Alberta.
End of summer music party.
Late September and early October are yum and nearly here… soon I'll be recording a few more more basics for the next record with Mike Spinrad (we made our first 7" single – which the now uber-succesful Matt Wallace produced, but that's another story, twenty-some years ago) and attending a super talented friends wedding – oh! I love a
wedding. Oh and I think there's gonna' be some pretty exciting events at the Musichead in November too… more on that soon.
Feelin' like a pretty lucky sumbeets over here, boss.
