Current mood:Hungover.
This kind of thing's been along time coming for the old Shifters. Sure, five years ago it was pretty routine to read reviews of our CD or shows in Canadian and sometimes even American publications, this is the first bit of press I've seen about our reformed 2nd kick at the bucket. Guess it's time to slip out from under the radar. Hee's an excerpt from Up Front Ottawa's Review of Birdman Sound Post-Festive Show at the Dominion Tavern, from last month.
…In due time –changeovers were a little on the long side, because full drum kits needed to be swapped– the Phantom Shifters took the stage. And, I must say, their gear is something to behold. Gibson Les Pauls, Ampeg amps and guitars, HiWatts, Pearl drums… thelist is extensive and painful enumerate for a grear such as myself. And boy do these folks take advantage of these beefiest of instruments. A pounding, face paced set that allowed no one a moment to collect their thoughts lest they be pounded right back out by …a new song! That's right, these boys are back to their old ways and methinks I hear a bit of the old Martindale's touch thses new ditties. You'll have to wait to find out though. JP.
