Seems my blog is turning into a movie review section.  Oh well.

As you can probably guess I just saw Narnia. Oh, don't worry, I'm not gonna give anything away. I am also NOT going to spend this review talking about how inferior it is to Lord of the Rings (although it actually wasn't much below LotR; the premise was the whole reason LotR was better). And I'm not going to bring up the obnoxious people who wouldn't shut up or turn their cell phones off. Except I guess I just did bring it up. Well, I won't again. You'll see. Or won't. I don't know. Anyway, I'm surprised how close they kept the movie to the book. The main difference seemed to be that everyone was wittier in the movie than they were in the book, which is not at all a bad thing, though it seemed out of character for the 4 children involved. But the story itself was told quite well, and the writers/directors/etc took advantage of every opportunity to make the movie great, not to mention the excellent acting.  There were some good moments score-wise, but Howard Shore's epic scores are quite a bit better (hey, I'm talking music not film-making). Still, it's a movie well worth seeing, whether you've read the book or not (and unlike LotR, you can thoroughly understand Narnia without having read any of the books). I suppose, because of the premise, that I would like this movie a little less had I not read the books, but either way I do recommend you go see it. RATING: 4/5
