Philippians 1:6
“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
One of my favorite things to do in Disney World is to watch the glass blowers mold sticks of glass into beautiful costly creations. It always amazed me how they could take something so plain and useless looking and forge it into this figurine that costs hundreds or thousands of dollars. It’s interesting to think about that “useless” glass stick. It doesn’t really get a choice of what it wants to be. The glass blower picks it up and puts it in the fire and begins molding away. Only he has the picture of what this glass stick will be. It’s only through his molding that this useless object becomes one of creative beauty. Is any of this ringing any bells? Lately, I’ve been feeling like I’m that boring stick of glass, and God is the creative glass blower. However, unlike the before mentioned inanimate object, I am very animated and have an opinion as to how my “glass blower” should mold me. This leads to frustration because I am not living the life that has been planned for me. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” If I truly believe that God will finish what He started in my life and that the plans He has for my life are GOOD plans, then I have to live a life of total surrender to Him. I know, easier said then done. I mean, let’s be honest, true surrender is not easy, but the reality of life is that anything that is worth any value won’t be easy to attain. A lot of times we make plans for our lives that don’t include God’s plan, and we’re actually surprised when it doesn’t satisfy us. Let me challenge you to take a hard look at your life and your “plans”. Do they match your Creator’s plan for your life? Or are you running from your true design?
