...still working on my CD. Today I'm touching up vocals on a song called "Big Crow Rising". I'm also adding some very cool but subtle synth parts made on my original Moog Prodigy along with a Virus B which I'm borrowing from my good friend Dany Kane. (More about Dany later.) I've written lyrics for the majority of my album, but this one comes from an old friend Danny Stonagle who now lives in Calgary, Canada. Danny is a real poet at heart. I love his work. He comes across to me like somewhere between Leonard Cohen and Earnest Hemmingway. Does that seem rediculous??? -hahah. Anyway, the music is mine and I'm happy to take a backseat on the lyric for a change. I've recorded live strings on this one which sound amazing. They were arranged by the incredibly talented Chris Dedrick who is based out of Toronto now. Chris actually arranged strings for James Taylor and Peter Paul and Mary back in the day. Also of note, there's a wicked key change after the bridge which leads to a stirring Flugel horn solo. It came as quite an accident really. Originally I did a demo on my computer and I was changing the keys to find the best place for my vocal. The bridge was accidentally left unchanged and sounded amazing. I hope you all love this song as much as I do!
