Be aware HORRID are not the only totally dedicated to the old school Death Metal band in Italy. ERODED from Alessandria are rumbling since 2003 and the current line – up features the MORTUARY DRAPE drummer in their ranks. Basically this frist CD is a compilation of both so far released demos namely “Banner of the unrest Exil” (2006) and “Test the Grace Infliction” (2007). Both recordings are professional done with a sort of a too clean approach, but still good enough to capture a sort of 90ies vibe Death Metal spirit. To make sure ERODED don’t sound like the typical Stockholm clone band. ERODED unleash it more darker and obscure. In good moments they give me the vibe of early SADISTIC INTENT recordings, a bit of KAAMOS and the heaviness of GOD MACABRE in combination with a straight forward drum and rhythm work of early ENTOMBED. Again ERODED don’t reinvent the wheel, but if you love the ancient spirit of above mentioned bands then you can be sure that those five Italians have done their homework in ripping their guts off. The coverartwork was done by Adam Zaars of TRIBULATION and the whole booklet layout reminds me a lot of the KAAMOS stuff. Shortly said this is a band to keep an eye and don’t mix them up with the German ERODED, who perform a simliar type of Death Metal infection.
