So I'm typing in a hotel room at 3:59am. I just finished recording "Down On The Mira", my very own Cape Breton tune, which should be ready for the radio stations in about two weeks. The final touch was extending 75 feet of mic cables into my house to record the sounds of a crackling fire (don't tell anybody) and getting the Orchieson family to sing along. I feel good about it. I think I captured just what I wanted to capture...you know, exactly what the song is about (..."we're all equal, we're all the same"...). Yeah, so I should probably go to bed now, or go grab some over-expiring food out of my fridge and go watch Sanford & Son. Oh yeah, I'm in a hotel, damn. Oh well, bed it is. But yeah, keep an ear out for my new song "Down On The Mira"...a good-time Cape Breton song about that special place where a poor man can be a king.

peace,
Simon

(p.s. check out this video recorded right after the song was written)

MAR 23/09

So it had its first spin on the radio last Wednesday! I was having trouble eq'ing the bass, so I left it alone for a couple of weeks. It was so nice to finally hear it on the radio. 2 years in the making, it's been...

Anyway, so that wasn't the end of it. I had to cut it down in length (it was clocking in at 5:03....way too long for the airwaves..haha!!!), so don't go crazy if you don't hear the 3rd Verse. If ya wanna hear about Roy and his beamer, then listen to the song on my Myspace....I still got the full version posted here.

Yeah, I guess that's it! I just did the final-final mix today....so hopefully that'll be it on the recording end. Glad to have it done. Now it's marketing time......oh gee....
