BOOKINGS...PLEASE READ.

How to get Booked @ Caffe da Vinci…....

I would first like to point out we love music here and are an eclectic venue so we try and do book all kinds of bands from jazz to metal. That said, just because we do that doesn’t mean we will book you. Here is some info below getting a booking here….

Are you good enough? Just because you form a band does not mean you deserve a venue to be heard at. This may sound harsh, but there are thousands of bands out there struggling to get on someone’s stage so better practice up. If you are on a label with proven venue and record sales that definitely helps you tremendously, but if you’re a band just starting out you need to prove to us you play and can bring people out. If you cannot then do not contact us. We support music here @ da Vinci’s, but we are not a charity. If we do not make money then we close and that is no good for anyone.

Guarantees?? Certain bands out there require guarantees. This is a set amount of money "guaranteed" to the band whether the venue makes it through the door or not. Bands like these usually have a proven following and can get a date to play with a guarantee. Bands who are unproven get none. With these shows we are taking a chance on you to bring in people. If you bring no one then we do not make money, so you will not. So it is only fair that you will probably do a free show and based on the turnout get a percentage of our bar sales.

Sending demos, etc. The best way to do this is to send us a link through our Contact emails or Myspace (or both) so we can check you out or use www.sonicbids.com and use an EPK. Another way is to come to our weekly Open Mic and get up there and show us what you got (it works!!). We have had people give us demo cds and we have to be honest, we do not always have time to listen to them and they collect dust in the demo box which is a shame but happens sometimes. The other methods are quicker and easier for us and you.

Contacting Us: email us through our Contact emails or Myspace. For the most coverage and faster response contact both the Owner and Manager for a booking request. Give us all your info so we can contact you back and check out your music. Contacting us means one email not spam. We like persistence but don’t be annoying heh. The contact info is below.

Marketing and Promotion. This varies from band to band. If we book a band (with a guarantee or proven venue sales) there is a level of promotion we do for the bands to cover the costs. This is not the same for bands with no guarantees etc. You need to get out there and promote! There is no reason for us to spend money on marketing if no one knows who you are. The level of marketing we do for ALL bands is putting you on our websites, calendars, and other various outlets(local and county magazines and college outlets) that will get you awareness, but is relatively free to us. All bands need to send us any artwork, posters, flyers etc so we can help get interest in the show. When you get booked we will discuss the options, but it varies from show to show.

Genres of Bands we may not book here unless you have sold a million copies of your record…..Jam Bands, Nu–metal, Pop Country, Smooth Jazz, Crap, etc. Bands we heart to have here….Indie, Alt-country, Real Jazz( like the Cook Trio!), Metal,Punk, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Electronic, DJs (all genres),Folk, good stuff, etc.

Here at Caffe daVinci we rent out our outside garden area as well as our inside for weddings, corporate events, business or class meetings, etc. We offer catering and can book music for your event as well. If you are interested please contact out Special Event Coordinator. Info is below.
