Current mood:  grateful
Category: Life

I wish to send my sincere heart-felt thoughts and prayers to all our men and women in uniform who spend 24 hours a day to serve this country of ours... and all of us. No matter what our thoughts are about where they are and whether or not they should be there, they ARE there and we are better off because of them. May God be with all of you and all of the citizens of this great country as we strive to be the best we can be. Thank you for your honor and service, and for every day you make every best effort to hold our country up and in higher esteem. Salute.

My thoughts and prayers are also sent to all of our veterans who have already served this country, either in recent tours of duty or any tour of duty in our country's history. We are the great place we are with what freedoms we have due to your selfless and courageous service. I salute you, all of you.

Most of all, I send my heartfelt thanks and prayers out to those service men and women who have given their all and died in sacrifice for their country... OUR country. Such gallant honor is part of who you were, and what we are able to now see because of your sacrifice. Sometimes your value is not appreciated by the host of Americans until your name is read aloud and included in the honor rolls of our great service men and women gone on... I salute you.

I also send my sincere prayers and thoughts this weekend out to all of the survivors of battles, remaining members of familes, and all of us who are able to enjoy the fruits of this land because of all that have served.

We should be proud of all those who served, regardless of where or why they were placed in service, but because they served.

I know I am. Proud and grateful.

Sincerely,
Jim Hurst - American.

Thank you for your thoughts, Jim. My Dad served in the Pacific theater of WWII in submarines, and in his entire 35 year naval career. I think of him and so many others of WWII, Korea and Vietnam that have survived and live to this day, and those whom we are losing. that we may preserve their history and honor their gift.

On Memorial Day we remember those who served and those who did not survive, giving their lives for freedom. From the Revolution in 1776, the War Between the States, and through the many conflicts throughout the world in which American men and women have defended Freedom-- we need to pause and remember that Freedom isn't free.

In these days of high tech dismissal of personal sacrifice and the continuation of the "ME"dia generation, the selfless service of our men and women in the armed forces is a living memorial.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" and even greater love to lay down one's life for strangers. It is so very humbling to me.

I too, am proud and grateful. God Bless you all.

Godspeed,
David A.

This is one of the reasons you'll always be one of "my boys"! Would love to see you sometime soon!
