The word is out and I can finally talk about this.  "The Hollywood Reporter" broke the news tonight that I'm co-producing Patrick Tatopoulos' new film, I, Frankenstein, with the awesome fellas at Death Ray, Robert Sanchez and Chris Patton.  This is a huge step for me and I think it's the right one.  This project is fuckin' awesome and a chance to play around with the famous monsters my father raised me on.  Tatopoulos is, without a doubt, a guy whose work I've always admired from the winged beasts in Pitch Black to his work in the Underworld films.  And through my job as a journalist, we've gotten to be friends over our various chats about the films he's been involved with.  Kevin Grevioux has created such an unbelievably awesome world where the Frankenstein monster is a private detective takin' down the bad guys (in this case, other monsters you'll recognize).

2009 is going to be an interesting year of change for me.  I'll still be performing my duties at ShockTillYouDrop.com.  I've just always been one to take on more than one project at a time.  I, Frankenstein muscled its way in and demanded my attention.  Casting ideas

More to come, fiends...  Check out some concept art

'I, Frankenstein' comic headed to big screen

Death Ray teams with Patrick Tatopoulos, Kevin Grevioux

Director Patrick Tatopoulos, "Underworld" co-creator Kevin Grevioux
and Death Ray Films are teaming up to bring the comic book "I,
Frankenstein" to the big screen.

"I, Frankenstein" is an upcoming Darkstorm Comic written by
Grevioux that brings together classic monster characters, including
Frankenstein's Monster, the Invisible Man, Dracula and the
Hunchback of Notre Dame, in a contemporary film noir setting.

The Monster, for example, has evolved, learned how to control his
anger and now acts as a private investigator. Dracula, meanwhile,
is a kingpin of crime, and the Invisible Man is a secret operative.

Grevioux will pen the adaptation and act as a producer. Tatopoulos,
a longtime creature designer for such films as "I Am Legend" and
"Godzilla" who made his directorial debut with "Underworld: Rise of
the Lycans," will helm.

Robert Sanchez and Chris Patton will produce via Death Ray. Ryan
Turek of horror Web site ShockTilYouDrop.com is co-developing for
Death Ray.

The company has an independent financing fund for its slate, which
also includes the horror comedy "War Monkeys," in preproduction,
and "El Zombo," an adaptation of a Dark Horse comic.

"It's a Raymond Chandler-esque monster mash where the rogues don't
pack pistols, they've got claws and fangs," Turek said.

Death Ray hopes to launch a franchise with the property.

Tatopoulos is repped by ICM and Grevioux by WMA.

Sweet deal. I'm sure you'll have a blast doing all this prep work for the film & watching it come to life.

The concept art is pretty amazing. Definitely going to pop off screen and grab the audience.

As far as casting, well I guess that all depends on how many characters & what situations arise in the script. As for Frankenstein, I would search Far outside the Hollywood system for an actor. You don't want to burden an audience with someone they know really well & loose the amazing character on screen.

Hell, if there are any side characters, I'm very available. I'm just saying...

I wish you the best with this new endeavor.

Man, this is brilliant! And a very logical progression for you. Funnily, I almost met Tatopoulos last night at the Brussels fest, but left too early.
D'oh! Can't wait to see you this weekend to discuss this and everything else!

Awesome News! Congrats! As far as casting, I'd stick with unknowns, it's cheaper and doesn't come with any bullshit. Just my two cents.

Congrats, ryan.. as for casting and am not sure as to whom he could play, but "Nick stahl" was good as yellow bastard in Sin city.
