Current mood:furious, indignant and down right angry!
Having been in ministry most of my life.... as a Pastor I am not afforded the opportunity to visit churches on a Sunday unless I am a guest speaker. I recently closed my church in Shreveport as our team is preparing to relocate.  With me I have asked my team to visit other churches of all kinds as we do  not have a church home and are in between assignments.

I realize we need to be open to the way others worship or conduct their services. As long as Jesus is glorified and the Word is foundation I can pretty much handle it. I want my team to know first hand what is "out" there for two reasons. If they are gonna continue to labor with me, I want them to know that they know this is what they want and can walk in agreement with me. There's a job to do. Secondly, I want to gain insight of a better way to build for the Kingdom ..... or how not to build.

To be real....honestly, false doctrine, ignorant and lazy Christianity, misrepresentation of Christ make me angry. Yet in this season I am willing to look at a variety of places called "church" just in case I am missing something or need to know something.

I guess if anything I realize why I am CALLED to the ministry! LOL!

Yesterday in my city we visited a new "church." Without desire to be critical. We tought they might have a "god" idea of some sort. Service is held in a new theater.....it's a come as you are type church, be comfortable in dress and you carry in your drinks...(possibly snacks too i guess.)

Church began at 10:15 there was some music but not one praise or worship song. In fact one song was a secular love song that is aired on the radio now.

The message began with two clips from The Devil Wears Prada! and included another clip from a TV movie. The message was motivational on choosing your friends wisely. "You become like those you hang around." One scripture from Proverbs was used.

Prov 13:20
0 He who walks with wise men will be wise,
But the companion of fools will be destroyed.  NKJV

However they used a more comfortable version of the Bible. Destroyed is too strong of a word fo r this generation.

Honestly I endured this 30 minutes message and gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was wise to
teach this .

My team and I met for lunch and discussed the pros and cons of this service. Mostly cons......not many pros.

The theater seats were filled and they even had an overflow theater broadcasting the service on screen.

I couldn't recall hearing the name of Jesus. Not one worship song, no invitation to receive Christ. The only prayer prayed was to close the service. Needless to say......my team was a bit more then unsettled about this. We know what we DON'T WANT and what we WILL NOT DO in our new territory as we pioneer.

I was fine till I awoke this morning and am enraged as I recall the only name(or title) that stuck in my mind from yesterdays message is WIZARD! The word was comically used in a special verbal illustration.

The word wizard was used at least THREE times in thirty minutes. Jesus was NEVER SPOKEN AT ALL not even once!
I want to give eveyone a chance who desires to fufill the call of God and wants to create a place for lives to be changed but.....
May I kindly speak here....in my humble opinion (ventingly lol).......I call this ......STUPID CHURCH!

Just what Shreveport/Bossier needs, another POWERLESS CHURCH!

2 Tim 3:5-7
5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth  NKJV

I knew this kind of church existed....everywhere...

Wonder how many people left there still on the way to hell? what if one of them died last night.....what if they thought they were ready for eternity?

The new ad should be.....
"COME TO _____ CHURCH......WE DON'T EXPECT CHANGE!"

Any thoughts on the "new" American church?

Hmmmmm its like I said before we ever visited the church "Come as you are, Leave the same"... Not the kind of church I want to be apart of. Give me something that impacts and changes this generation...

Ahhh Postmodernism. A type of religion people choose because they acknowledge that they need something greater than themselves, but lacking in Truth, because "truth is relative." A smart, philosophical, and technolgically savvy generation that has tossed aside education, Nietzsche, and technology because it no longer feeds them. They want entertainment greater than a movie and a night out can give them. At a Postmodern gathering, they can take in a hint of the Word...maybe a whole scripture, maybe a half, or maybe just a promise that if the preacher says "the Word says" in a statement...well, that's gospel if it is the truth I understand...at the moment...cause of course it can change. They can sing songs that make them feel good inside because they are in fact worshiping self...praise lifts the spirit, whether it is to God, to self, or to others. They also have a fellowship of friends there that too are seeking. Therefore, they leave their church feeling fulfilled. There is a shift in world views and Postmodernism is the exact recipe the enemy is using to calm the searching spirit and lure them away while causing them to believe they know God. Rather than the black and white of religion as it was "in the day," it is a religion that will bend and shift to accommodate one's intellect and lifestyle. Really it is nothing new. The Israelites clung to a piece of God while whoring themselves to foreign gods...back and forth all the time. When God served them well...In God We Trust...when He is silent for the sake of testing, many gods satisfied their cravings. Today, our minds are god, our toys are god, our music is god, and our tv is god. The hammer will fall soon...to many self-seekers utter dismay.

"But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. God "will give to each person according to what he has done."To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger. There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.
" Rom 8:5-11

...and let's hope the teacher gets right too:

"Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more severely than others.
" James 3:1

JAN THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS WE FACE. WE HAVE A GENERATION COMING BEHIND US WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN ABSOLUTE TRUTH. IT'S RELATIVE!. A GENERATION OF BLESS ME BUT DON'T TELL ME IT WILL COST ME SOMETHING TO FOLLOW JESUS. A GENERATION THAT KNOWS NOTHING OF HOLINESS ( GOD'S CHARACTER IN US ) , ACCOUNTABILITY, DYING TO SELF, COMMITMENT , OF PURSUING GOD WITH THE WHOLE HEART, NO FEAR OF THE LORD! A WATERED DOWN MESSAGE OF THE GOSPEL. YES GOD IS LOVE - BUT WE MUST NEVER LOSE SIGHT HE IS HOLY- LET US NEVER LOSE SIGHT THAT HE IS JUDGE! TO JUDGE MEANS TO SET THINGS RIGHT. HE WILL NEVER WINK AT, ENDORSE, EXCUSE, CONDONE , OR ALLOW SIN IN HIS PRESENCE.

WE ARE SO CONCERNED WITH MAKING THE CHURCH "FRIENDLY" TO THE WORLD.
GOD FORBID!

TODAY THE PEOPLE CRY - TELL ME WHAT I WANT TO HEAR- MAKE ME FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF,

TELL ME HOW TO BE BLESSED. DON'T TELL ME I NEED TO PLEASE GOD IN EVERY AREA. DON'T TELL ME I HAVE TO DEAL WITH SIN ( WE SEE THIS USED LESS AND LESS - NOW IT'S PROBLEMS, OR PERSONALITY TRAITS, OR SOMETHING ELSE) IN MY LIFE.
YOU CAN PAINT A PIG, BATHE A PIG,

GIVE IT A FANCY NAME AND PUT THE MOST EXPENSIVE PERFUME ON IT.
IT'S STILL A PIG!

WE AS BELIEVERS ARE NOT TO LOVE THIS WORLD. JESUS SAID -" I DIDN'T COME TO BRING PEACE - BUT A SWORD!" IT'S TIME THAT OUR PULPITS BE FILLED WITH THOSE WHO WILL NOT COMPROMISE THE WORD OF GOD. WE NEED THE POWER OF GOD BACK IN THE CHURCH - BUT IT WILL NOT COME TO COMPROMISED , WORLD-FRIENDLY CHURCHES.

This is the model that is being perpetuated, even within Spirit-Filled churches, we that believe in the Word and a moving God are considered irrelevant and prudish.
Thanks for reminding me that I'm not stupid for desiring something beyond feeling better!

Have seen this kind of so called church here as well and am not impressed. It seems to be more a social affair instead of church its so sad to see so many people iin a church and no life and they think they are ok.
No hunger no food you die

We come together to WORHIP GOD and GIVE HIM HONOR. "CHURCH" ISN"T ABOUT US, IT"S ABOUT HIM! And when was God honored? When was He given the praise He is worthy of. WHEN was there ever a time that the people there showed a recognition of their need of Jesus or gratitude to Him. We have turned a message that once AND STILL DOES (ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE) REQUIRE one to Love the Lord with ALL their heart, soul, and might. I saw no heart felt anything, no soul altering annointings, and there was certanly noone worshiping with might...there was no worship at all.
