Most of the guys at the engineering school seem to have cats for some reason. Whether it is the natural propensity of engineers to be drawn to cats or just something that naturally occurs because of the laws of chance, I really don't know. What I do know is that my kittens are a lot of fun to be around. Felines have always a playfully affectionate quallity around them. They are inspiring and sometimes they remind me that I don't have to take my work, play, and studies too seriously. These stereo pair of kittens are named after a Greek God and Goddess who also happened to be Brother and Sister. Apollo is known as the Mythological god of Music and Diana as the goddess of the moon and the chase. These kittens are purebred Abyssinians and as most Abyssinians are playful, intelligent, and obsessive hunters, so they are too. Their musician friend here picked two very apt names for them. The can live to be around 20 years old and already it is amazing how much they have grown. When they were really young they were eating about twice their body weight everyday. Because of this, (and because they are playful) I've ensured that they have lots on exercise and periodically they will go outside in their little harnesses and chase dragonflies just after it gets dark at night. I even went so far as to purchase one of their favorite toys, An imitation bird on a fishing pole, from Pets on Lex. As of yet, I haven't  found too many stores, other than the Megastores with such a great selection of pet toys. The help is friendly there always personal. And I must say that I get some great advice there at times. The toy itself looks like an actual bird in the way that it swoops and climbs. They get tons of exercise this way, but I feel like we all need it. And soon I think I'll have to replace the bird feathers, Maybe keep them on supply! Diana likes to chase it in circles on my bed, while Apollo usually holds it firmly between his little teeth and takes it to the top of his multi-level kitty tower. It's genuine delight to see how much enjoyment they have out of this activity. However, The behavior generalized after a while to my guitar and music cables. So now, I have the long music cables strung up an hanging in my closet like spaghetti where they can't get to them. Basically, I have had to kitten proof my apartment so that they remain safe. Just recently they have discovered that my microphone windscreens are fun to play with. They are perfectly round when they roll on the floor, and are easy to swat. I'm not too surprised, Most vocalists tend to eat the windscreen on a Microphone when they are really close up to it anyhow. And these are kittens that belong to a musician. So, I've decided that I need about 12 more windscreens as a result!!!!!!!!!!! Apropos, eh?
