"Gin, Cursed Fiend Makes Human Race A Prey
It Enters Through a Secret Draft And Steals Your Life Away"

In 1736 London's community of ranting soaks broke down the gates of Gordon's Gin Factory and drank the place dry. Apparently the streets of London were literally flowing with gin for three days straight.

Named after the longest and hardest drinking session in living memory, The Gin Riots are a disparate bunch of boys who came together make music to get drunk to ...

Formed at university in Bristol by Irishman Cillian Logue and Londoner Guy Stevenson, the band started out as an acoustic folk act. Think Bert Jansch going at it with Shane McGowan.

Following their true calling towards a punkier style, the two upped sticks to London, advertised for musicians in various lonely hearts columns, and stumbled across a couple of gems; Ozzie mod fanatic Tim Burton and gifted northern drummer Jack McGruer.

With this new line-up together now for just over a year, The Gin Riots have gigged hard on the London scene, from the back rooms of dingy dives to glam club nights in the city centre. The band have a strong local support base, enhanced no end by the infamous Gin Palace Parties they host across South London.

Along with being twice feature on Myspace Music UK, the boys had their North American debut in Toronto at North by Northeast in June 2008, playing a packed out show.

In August 2008, The Gin Riots were selected by Warner Movies and Myspace to perform at Guy Ritichie's private London premiere of his new film 'Rocknrolla'.

2008 ended with a bang, firstly an invitation to perform at South By Southwest music and film festival in Austin, Texas in March 2009 and their music video collaboration with cult film director George A. Romero.

With their debut single due for self-release in spring 2009, things are looking on the up for indie band, The Gin Riots.
