There are very few albums that I can consider "perfect." For me, an album has to have texture, be consistant and an a to b. Sounds simple but most albums sound like a compliation or rushed or any other numerous flaws that can come into play. I recently was going through the many many stacks of vinyl I have and I pulled out Bjork's "Vespertine." When I first got the record, I was flabbergasted by the angelic tone and the overall bareness of the lyrics, melody and harmony. Listening to the album is like listening to someone's diary, it's almost too honest, too open hearted to be put out in such large quantities as it was by the record company. With my rediscovery of the album, there are avenues that I've forgotten and some never explored. With any art work that stands the test of time such as Mile's "Bitches Brew" or Curtis' "Superfly" or Pablo Picasso's "Guernica" or Frida Kahlo's "The two Frida's" ; enjoying just once is a fools game, in order to take it all in, its necessary to re visit and re visit to gather the full spectrum of the piece.
