On December 2nd (little more than a month away), Fox plans on FINALLY re-releasing the long out-of-print 1998 film THE X-FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE. It'll have two discs, jam-packed with bonus features. For those of us who loved the show, loved this movie, loved the new movie (or one of you who hated it, and want to go back to the old one), this should be colossally good news.

Well, unless you own a Blu-Ray player, you can go fuck yourselves. Fox only plans on re-releasing FIGHT THE FUTURE ..ay.

Someone told me recently, "Get with the times, go buy a Blu-Ray player." Well, I can't afford it - to say nothing of the economy. I'd rather spend $20 or so on a standard DVD, rather than $200+ on the player and then another $40 or so for the Blu-Ray itself. And I know I'm not alone in this.

Not to mention Fox is shooting themselves in the feet, because while they think they're going to earn more this way, they're actually going to earn far less than if they had the expanded market for the rather big audience that would buy it if it were on standard DVD. So it doesn't just screw us non-Blu-Ray owners, it screws Fox themselves.

So, I've started a petition to help bring The X-Files: Fight the Future to STANDARD, 2-disc DVD. The link is right here:

The X-Files: Fight the Blu-Ray Petition
(or copy & paste: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/the-x-files-fight-the-blu-ray )

When I have enough signatures, I'm going to send this directly to Fox, and make sure that they know that there are hungry fans out there who want this movie on standard DVD!

C'mon, X-Philes - we want to believe - not to convert. (Not all of us anyway, and certainly not yet.)

Fight the Blu-Ray, and bring The X-Files: Fight the Future to DVDs everywhere!

I totally agree with you! There's got to be somebody at the studio out there who isn't obsessed with the almighty dollar(not that it's worth much anyway). Even if we don't get it right away, as long as we get it, that's all that matters.

I don't think the petition will work. They rarely do in this case. Blu Ray movies are actually 30 bucks most of the time, roughly the same price as special edition regular DVD. But that ten dollars means they don't need to sell as many units to make the same money. Not to mention FOX makes and obscene amount of money. They aren't really killing themselves on this deal. Also it does cost money to produce these disks, and if I remember correctly the movie didn't kill at the box office so, again, Fox is not getting that hurt in the long run. Over the run of the release they will easily make back the money they spent on it.

And to the guy that said " get with the times" the correct response was to kick him in the nuts.

Unfortunately to the majority of the DVD buying public this is not a big deal, and I think Fox realizes that. It sucks but that's life. They want their monies dammit. Also they are prolly assuming X-Files fans=Geeks=Needs to have the latest tech= Of course they all have Blu Ray.

Good luck with the petition though.

As long as there's even a chance at this, I'm going for it. Can you at least sign for the sake of numbers?
