On December 2nd (little more than a month away), Fox plans on FINALLY re-releasing the long out-of-print 1998 film THE X-FILES: FIGHT THE FUTURE. It'll have two discs, jam-packed with bonus features. For those of us who loved the show, loved this movie, loved the new movie (or one of you who hated it, and want to go back to the old one), this should be colossally good news.
Well, unless you own a Blu-Ray player, you can go fuck yourselves. Fox only plans on re-releasing FIGHT THE FUTURE ..ay.
Someone told me recently, "Get with the times, go buy a Blu-Ray player." Well, I can't afford it - to say nothing of the economy. I'd rather spend $20 or so on a standard DVD, rather than $200+ on the player and then another $40 or so for the Blu-Ray itself. And I know I'm not alone in this.
Not to mention Fox is shooting themselves in the feet, because while they think they're going to earn more this way, they're actually going to earn far less than if they had the expanded market for the rather big audience that would buy it if it were on standard DVD. So it doesn't just screw us non-Blu-Ray owners, it screws Fox themselves.
So, I've started a petition to help bring The X-Files: Fight the Future to STANDARD, 2-disc DVD. The link is right here:
The X-Files: Fight the Blu-Ray Petition(or copy & paste: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/the-x-files-fight-the-blu-ray )
When I have enough signatures, I'm going to send this directly to Fox, and make sure that they know that there are hungry fans out there who want this movie on standard DVD!
C'mon, X-Philes - we want to believe - not to convert. (Not all of us anyway, and certainly not yet.)
Fight the Blu-Ray, and bring The X-Files: Fight the Future to DVDs everywhere!
