California singer/songwriter Bobby Jameson wrote a protest song called Vietnam in 1965. The song was released as a single around that time, and I, Stan Satin, singer and lyricist for Vietnam, somehow ended up with a copy in 1981 when our band was entrenched in heavy creative activity.

I had had a vivid dream about a guy who retold me his story about running down a hill being chased by three moving objects, and I decided to write a non-sensical song about this unnamed man and his rantings to me. I took a look around the room and spotted the single by Bobby Jameson and said: "That's the guy's name! That's what I'll name him! After all, Bobby Jameson has a song called Vietnam, so Vietnam should have a song called Bobby Jameson!"

Fast-forward 25 years or so and by the wonders of the internet, the real Bobby Jameson contacts the band Vietnam on MySpace.com and proceeds to exchange friendships, stories, emails, laughs, blogs, etc. But going one step further, it is suggested they swap signed CD's so each can have each other's records named for each other, and that is exactly what happened!

There are other coincidences as well: Recently, Bobby Jameson was featured in a Mojo Magazine article titled Missing In Action. Vietnam has a song called Missing In Action!!!!!!!

Be sure to drop by Bobby's mySpace site and listen to his original song Vietnam, and his other tunes and say "hello" while you're at it.
