What is Show Choir?
Show choir, (known in some areas as swing or pop choir) is an extra curricular activity offered in high schools and colleges worldwide. Simply put, if you see a group of people dressed in matching sequin outfits, singing and dancing karaoke style to contemporary and classic hits, you're probably looking at a show choir. The Mickey Mouse Club, Osmond Brothers, Brady Bunch and the half hour musical performances you see at theme parks are all examples of show choir on it's grandest scale.
Until now…
You need only turn on your television to see that reality TV has taken over the nation. Many of the most popular reality programs are the singing or dancing competitions like "American Idol," "So You Think You Can Dance," "Clash of the Choirs," "Dancing With the Stars," and others. It's only a matter of time before someone mixes them together and brings show choir to a national level.
Impossible… right?
Wrong! This year ABC released "Carrie Ann vs. Bruno: Dance War" a reality program about creating rival pop choirs that competed on national TV for the chance at fame. In addition MTV has filmed a reality program entitled "MTV Show Choir" where they document an average high school show choir on their journey through intense national competitions.
