Hey guys! A littttle bit late with this one (okay, 6 days) but let's pretend it wasn't!
This week entailed:
- Doing my (hopefully) last piece of uni work
- Writing blogs for primeloops.com
- Mixing a gorgeous new YAWA song
- Finishing the song for the 7DS Drum and Bass Tutorial
- Paid for some tickets to my own gig =/
- Played through a new YAWA song or two at YAWA practice!
- Had a business meeting!
- Lolcat:
Goodbye, Stafford.I finally handed in my uni work and demoed it - there was a brief moment where I called up on the day of the hand in to make sure it arrived and they said I wasn't down to do the referral work at all... Bloody uni never wants to let up on its inadequacy even right at the end.
It's all sorted now though - I demoed my game and it didn't go too badly. Just sick of going in to that place for a 5 minute talk with someone who doesn't care or prepare for anything. It's not a good motivational learning environment at all - I feel more motivated around my friends.
Not sure when I get my results, but I'll keep you posted.
Distortion and Logic 9I wrote another two articles this week, one on the history of distortion and another on Logic Pro 9... even though I don't own a mac :P Looks like they like my writing though, since they're happy with what enough to just put it straight up.
It's pretty cool, I'm a writer - a journalist even. I research things and write about them in an entertaining manner. Never really thought my life would take that direction, but since it's something I enjoy researching it's not too much of a chore in comparison with any other jobs!
Ascension - updateMan, this song is gorgeous. I mixed it this week and it's sounding so good - The guitar is meaty, the synths are euphoric and Kieran and I have been playing around with some vocal ideas which are getting seriously catchy.
Definately a contender for my favourite YAWA song if we nail the vocals.
7 Day Song!
Pendulum wish they had my song! Hah, well maybe not, but it's still pretty sweet - Catchy lead line and a Winning bass tone. It's one of my proudest moments quality wise, the Drums really punch through. Check it out as I do the tutorial this coming week!
Paying to see me?Zak seems to think that we need to get a London fanbase and that the only way we can get gigs down there is to pay £180 for tickets to our own show, which we must then sell on. Being the only member of the band with money, my bank account has once again been stripped bare. We've now got to sell 30 tickets to people for a gig in London.
I hate these deals - for a start, it means we're only being exposed to our mates if no-one else brings people either. I wish promoters would promote gigs and bands would play them. That would be a nice change. Gah, I guess you've got to work at these things if you want to be successful.
New Songs live?!
Woah, considering we've been playing the same set since we started pretty much, it's nice to have some variety in what we play! We attempted the songs "Epidemic" and "Watch Me Fly" - the former is sounding ace, but the latter needs a little work since it's really on the edge of Kieran's vocal range.
I think he should keep trying though - it'll improve his voice in the long run if he has to push his vocals to the limit on a regular basis. It worked for Chester Bennington at least!
Business?!Me and a few choice friends have clubbed together with the intention to start a blogring business - all working together to use our creative abilities to teach and entertain people while earning money. It's an exciting idea, we got a load of plans written down (most of which had the word "Bitch" after them because scratch was writing the minutes) and in general it was a great fun day. I have high hopes... as usual :)
Also, check out what Sketch has done:
Freakin' awesome. I wish I had talent like this... It's so good to see my friends working as well!
Next Week on Dave's Blog...Okay, so there'll be:
- A little London YAWA gig
- The 7 Day Song Drum and Bass Tutorial
- Preparing for my sister to leave the country for a year
- Oh... uh... Ah yeah, MY BIRTHDAY! :D
AND THE BLOGLY QUESTION: Yeah, I left this late so something related to that... uh... What would you change if you could go back in time and change something?
