Hi Myfacers.
Tomorrow - which is FRIDAY APRIL 3RD - sees a tremendous DY event occur at the lovely MAZE venue on MANSFIELD RD in everyone's favourite capital city of gun crime and people saying "innit": NOTTINGHAM.
We have a rich and hearty sonic platter for you. Make no mistake.
Headlining and all the way from "gay" Paris, we have NLF3. We first saw these characters supporting Fog a few years back and they blew us away. An intuitive and exciting mish-mash of electronica and rock music that recalls Can, Gang Gang Dance, Tortoise, Fela Kuti and all in between. If you enjoyed our wonderful Zun Zun Egui rhythm-fest a few weeks back then this is right up your alley. If these guys would just wear a bit more neon then I'm sure the Nu-Rave movement would adopt them and you'd have to go to Stealth to see them play. Eurgh. Imagine that...

As if that's not enough the supports we have on offer present Nottingham's finest purveyors of sonic texturing.
First up is SOUVARIS. Despite being involved with DY!, it's been a while since the 'Varis have played for us. Gearing up for a gargantuan European tour in support of a new release on everyone's favourite indie label Gringo, expect new songs tonight. Whilst most of the post-rock chin-stroking brigade seem hell-bent on reducing their music to a series of clicks, buzzes and murmurs, Souvaris never let the "rock" part of "post-rock" out of sight and never meander into the world of the endless shit riff. Did someone say Mono? Not me.

Whereas a Souvaris show is a rarity these days, GARETH HARDWICK would be present for the opening of an envelope. The guy is playing everywhere! But, see, that's how it should be. A year or so ago Gareth decided that for his gorgeous, melodious ambient music to work best it was necessary for him to play it 24 hours a day for infinity. And that's what he's doing. Even now at work, the man is committed to the drone. He's promised to save the best bits for 30 mins between around 9pm and 9.30 on Friday night.
