I don't think anyone will actually read this, but that's okay. Reading is for suckers.
I'm about half way through the writing/recording process for the album The Smoke Garden and it's going pretty well. Songs are being worked and reworked, lyrics and themes are starting to become clearer, and I still haven't gotten tired of the aesthetic approach of the album (this always tends to derail my projects, but not this time). It's somewhat different from many of the other projects I've attempted in the past and it is hard for me to delegate the songs that belong to each "band" I create, but I like to think that there is a clear distinction this time around. Hopefully I'm not lying to myself.
I really want to finish this album by the end of the year and figure out a way to release it with some sort of interesting packaging. Because this album won't reach more than a handful of people, creativity is a viable option. I'm considering different ways of being very hands-on with each copy without completely shooting myself in the foot and taking too much time to get it finished. Any suggestions are appreciated, but I don't expect them.
So yeah. I might post a track by track synopsis of the album's plot in the next month or so ("oh shit...he's making a concept album?" "yes.") but it's all subject to my capricious whims. Maybe you'll see it, maybe you won't. But the album will come out early next year or late this year.
Enjoy the tuneage
