I know you might be inundated with news regarding the Writers' Guild of America strike. It's been amazing to see how much media and grassroots attention and sympathy we've all actually gotten for our effort. The trades seem to be bent on presenting a company-sympathetic view of everything, so the people have taken it upon themselves to get their side out there.

As a WGAE (that's 'East') member (an oddity for a feature film writer, I can attest from the myriad of late-night comedy scribes I'm marching with day in and day out), I'm picketing in the rain and cold of New York City instead of in front of the sun-splashed studio gates of Culver and Studio City. I'm balancing comic book writing with strike duty, terrified for the state of film projects I'd been developing with different companies and wondering just how long the AMPTP is going to wait before coming back to the negotiating table... let alone offering us a fair deal, and all while trying to meet deadlines on the comics work I'm fortunate to be seeing an uptick in lately.

Anyways, I've enjoyed reading the surprisingly abundant amount of coverage on comic sites and creator's blogs. I'm going to be out on the front lines of this tragic mess until things are settled and the new landscape takes shape... could be a while, from what I sense. If you're curious how it's going out there as autumn approaches winter, I humbly submit my own site/blog for your perusal:

I'll try and keep current and disciplined, diligently posting thoughts and observations as we go.

Thanks guys,
JH

PS --This is us in front of Fox/NewsCorp yesterday. I am fairly confident that Rupert Murdoch made it rain.
