Basick Sickness is one of those musicians that live the life, he has his nose
to the grind stone, making it happen on his terms, putting his music in front of the
masses. We got the opportunity to chat with the man behind the sickness, enjoy.

First question, how did the name Basick
Sickness come to be?
My dad has a disease 200 people in the world
have, my sister is an addict, and my mom
is crazy. we are all sick, though in different
ways - its a basick sickness.
You have a CD, actually available as free
download. (The sickness is Spreading…)
Tell us a little about the songs on there. rock,
rap, alternative, hip-hop and R&B. i just
wanted to show people that i can do every-
thing. the next CD(GET SOME) will really show you what
I can do.
The Cd(The sickness is Spreading…) has song tracks that are not your
traditional Hip Hop, like the hook on “Pull
What Ya Got” has a real rock feel to it.
Has there been a conscious effort or is it
just kinda in your blood?
Definitely in the blood i love all types of mu-
sic, and it really shows in my tracks because
I don’t hold anything back, if I feel a certain
way on making a track, I’m going to do it.
I am very against censorship, especially of
myself.
You are a pretty recognizable
figure in the Pittsburgh Rap
scene. Give us a little overview
of the Pittsburgh music scene
from your perspective.
That is wild to me, im just a
normal guy ya know. my dream
has always been to be involved
in music, so to be where I’m at is
the first step of a bigger picture. I
run the Hkan weekly hip-hop se-
ries - only weekly hip-hop series
in Pittsburgh www.hiphop412.com - from
where i am it, it is beautiful.
What has been your most proud moment
as an artist.
Every time I am on stage and people are
feeling it, that is the proudest moment. When
I opened for bone thugs for 1000+ people, it
was pretty sick. I’ve also done a few shows
with Wiz that were pretty memorable.
What next for Basick.
Same old shit, constant grind. i have a big
festival coming
up on June 16th
in Schenley Park,
all day hip-hop.
new CD out this
summer also, gonna
keep throwing
and doing shows,
waiting to get
signed!
Anything you
want to add.
Thank you all for all of the support - it means
the world to me
