The story " A Night in a Civic" is an entertaining story, but how much of it is truth?
This is the question that is asked the most. Well, the following report is being issued to address these questions, and to speculate further on the the validity and probability of such events.
Please be sure to read the story " A Night in a Civic" before proceeding any further.
Upon research, we have found these issues to be truth;
FACT- Shoppys manager did indeed hear his own car starting up that rainy morning, Sunday Jan 6th. He did dismiss it and fall back asleep.
FACT- There were definetely 2 perpetrators, and they were able to steal the car without breaking a window.
FACT- They did head west to Los Angeles. To a contact named Frank.
FACT-The Shoppy merchandise was in the car that evening.
FACT-The Honda Civic was recovered in Apple Valley the next day.
Police on the scene found enough evidence to confirm the above truths. The two perps had written down the name and address of their contact in LA, Frank, on a box of tools. Also, DNA samples were taken from the many cigarettes left in the ashtray, Alan doesnt smoke.
The car was recovered in great shape, and had even been vacuumed. Its possible the perps were trying to clean up any traces such as hair. They forgot about the cigarettes. The only thing missing, was the Shoppy merchandise box, which contained several shoppy shirts, cds, and stickers. This is strange, because the car had several construction tools that were expensive, and could have been pawned easily. Why would they steal the merchandise?
Now we come to the parts of the story which, although may be true, cannot be confirmed at this time.
FICTION- We do not know the ethnicity of the two theives, however, grafitti art WAS found.
FICTION- There was no body recovered at the off ramp to Olivera Street in L.A., however, specialists have confirmed that a person could be knocked out and rolled down that hill and still survive. This leaves the possibility that "the Kid" lived and walked away upon waking.
FICTION-Although we do know that the LA contact was named Frank, we cannot at this time confirm that it is or was Rick Rueben, famed music producer. There was no body found behind the Swap Meet, however, due to the rain evidence would be near impossible to obtain. According to Los Agneles authorities, there were no witnesses, being that it was in a shopping district and at 4 in the morn. The strange thing is, that no one can confirm seeing Rick Rueben since two days before the alledged murder.
As with many investigative reports, this leaves much Unsolved. If anyone out their has any information that could help lead to the arrest of the two thieves, contact shoppy. There is a reward.
