The basic point of the rope is that it is a metaphor for a relationship. It started as an inside joke between me and Jacob, and later me and Nick. Basically the joke is you ask a significant other "When can we buy a rope so we can tie the knot?". Hence "The rope may come undone, you may have to untie the knot."

Well, I wrote and recorded this song in early June 2006 after some friends broke up. I guess it started as a sort of healing song, but just ended up as this weird country/folkish toe tapper!

An odd song, instrumentally, its comprised of a basic track of guitar and bass (check out that bass!!! it's WILD!), with a wide array of percussion going on: beating on a small trash can, handclaps, cowbell, tambourine, drumsticks beating on the headboard of my bed, and probably others I can't think of at the moment. It was recorded in my bedroom, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some Brian Wilson inspiration here, with the wide array of instruments and background vocals going on.

During the solo, a banjo is added to the mix, while harmonica takes the "lead". Stay tuned until the very end, and hear the cool Hawaiian styled dobro playing (I was kinda proud of that haha)

And I have to mention that James helped out w/ the cheesy background vocals and some clapping.

Overall, I was happy with this song, not only because I was proud that I wrote such a complete song without running out of ideas, but also there's so much going on in the background and I was kinda semi satisfied with my voice (I'm usually NEVER satisfied with it!!!)
