Wow!  I'm glad to hear someone writing on this topic.  It's something I struggled with for many years.  I write to you now from a corporate day job.  Something I tried to avoid as long as possible.  Until I realized how many "successful" musicians do something else to supplement their real vocation.  One minute you're on TV and they next you're doing something else until you're back on tv...and so on.  I still do over 100 dates a year and my drumheads are well worn.  It's taken a long time for me to compartmentalize being a "real musician" as opposed to a hobbist and having a day job.  Bottomline is you do what you have to do to survive and certain gigs feel more like work than sitting at this desk writing on Myspace Blogs.
