Here at New Earth Records, we’re really excited about Deuter’s latest project,
Celebration of Light.
Celebration of Light
is Deuter’s take on a holiday album, though it is also much more than
that. This album was created to be well-suited to the entire winter
solstice. The seasonal significance of the winter solstice is in the
reversal of the gradually lengthening nights and shortening days—and
hence, more light.
We interviewed Deuter about what he included on this album, and here’s what he said:
I intentionally selected holiday music I found to be both very
heartfelt and simple, which has been sung throughout the centuries. On
this album there are songs from the 13th, 14th, 15th, and the 16th
centuries. We have one piece of Johann Sebastian Bach, one part of the
Vivaldi four seasons, and one dance song from Praetorius, an original
composition, as well as additional unknown composers. This is my
offering to the holiday season.
Celebration of Light has also been getting some exceptional reviews. Here’s our favorite so far, from Music Design:
A long overdue kick in the pants for new age / Christmas recordings, this completely
charming and disarming album doesn’t have to be played at the holidays
only. The sonics alone are worth the price of admission and the rest of
the presentation will
simply bowl you over. A four star set throughout.
We hope you enjoy Celebration of Light as much as we do, and we invite
you to check it out. As always, this album is available on from us at
NewEarthRecords.com, on
iTunes, and on
Amazon.com.
We would also like to share with you these rare photos of Deuter which
we recently dug out of the New Earth archives. Enjoy, and please let us
know what you think of
