Ever since I started this series, because of the odd nature of these images I constantly get asked how I came up with this idea.
SO HERE IT IS.............................
This whole thing started as two completly seperate series of images. Like most photographers, we like to pick a subject and do a gradual progression of that subject, until we feel it has reached some kind of completion. Just as I was finishing a series called "A Universe Discovered" which is a series of extreme macro photography done with intence colored light's . I had a very successful opening at The Wallflower Gallery in Miami. The show even ran an extra few months, and I still have a few prints hanging there today. But even while that show was going on I always thought there was something more that these images could be. They all seemed like they had so much more to offer then what I was able to present (in my opinion)
At the same time, I decided that for the first time I wanted to work with a nude model. But I didn't want to do the same things that were done over & over. I knew that I wanted to something that either had not been done before or at least not in a long time. So I started to think about shadows and silhouettes. Or something along those lines. I asked a friend of mine who is not a model, but she certainly is beautiful, if she wouldn't mind if I practiced some ideas on her body. To get a good strong shadow I used a slide projector and projected her shadow onto the walls or the celing or whatever . Then purely on a whim, for a colored shadow I dropped in a slide that happened to be one of the " Universe Discovered" images. Which I actualy shot on slide film as part of a presentation for a charity event for the National Cancer Society. So when I dropped the slide in, the projector automaticly focused it on her body perfectly. When I saw the the image on her body, in perfect focus, I knew I was just about to do something totaly & completly different then anything I had ever seen before. At the same time I was already shooting tons of macro's with the the light's for the laser shows at the Miami Planetarium. Each show can use somewhere around 200 slides or more. I now have al little over 1,000 slides to choose from. My biggest problem now is finding vollenteers that are comftorble being in front of the camera nude. Other then that it has so far, been a positive experience.
Every photographer hopes & dreams of that one photograph that is going to launch their career. Like a singer writing a hit song. Well rather then one hit photograph, my hope is that this series will set me apart from the pack of photographers out there.Their all good and their all looking for looking to get noticed. My hope is that every one reading this will tell as many people as possible about these images as well as all my other works. In the photography world, the key is good word of mouth I need to create a buzz about these images. So believe it or not I realy do count on you to spread the word. Just the way you would if this were a band we talking about or a great book. I have done the same for other artists. Now I ask the same of you
As Peter Gabriel says at the end of all his concert's
