Well What do you know, Rumors are coming out that Al Gore might endorse Obama in the coming weeks, check out this post from "Al Giordano" a well respected Blogger that correctly predicted the endorsements of John Kerry and Ted Kennedy (Who also endorsed Obama).

I teased this last week (in almost as strong wording as when I predicted the Kerry and Kennedy endorsements days before they happened) and, yes, I've read the pleadings in the comments section asking for more information. Today I'm going to say it aloud: former Vice President Al Gore is rooting for Obama for president and the question is not if, but when, he says it aloud. Ironically, the political gossiper over at The American Spectator known as The Prowler has better surveillance tools at hand than the wonks at TPM's Election Central, The Atlantic or The New Republic who have been trying to swat down this idea without having a clue themselves as to what the Nobel Prize winner really thinks. But the time draws near when they'll all go, "Doh!"

But back to Gore: This is not rocket science. Gore, like Obama, spoke out against the Iraq war before Clinton voted to authorize it. The man from Tennessee knows that wasn't an easy thing to do politically. And when we see, as yesterday, Obama's Super Bowl ad stressing the fight to save the environment, we see how seamless the two go together.

According to a source close to Al Gore, multiple people in the former VP's orbit are in touch with him on a regular basis to urge an Obama endorsement. According to this source, Gore's hesitation is three-fold:

1.) The memory of the ill-fated Dean endorsement looms large for him.

2.) (Which is somewhat related to 1.) He's worried about somehow jinxing Obama.

3.) He's enjoying the contrast between himself (statesman-like, above the fray) and Bill Clinton, who's been rooting around in the mud for his wife and damaging his legacy in the process.

You know what, honestly I think this profile has exhausted itsself. The main purpose of this myspace page was to "draft Gore" for the 2008 election, which is probably why Myspace allowed it to remain up and active for so long. But what you are doing now has strayed so far from its original purpose that I think it's time for it to just go away. You're being factually inaccurate in the completely biased and ridiculous things you are posting trying to get people to vote for YOUR (the person who runs this profile) candidate and attempting to shade things and make it seem as though Mr. Gore himself feels the same as you do. It's ridiculous, and this blog is extremely childish. Please do us all a favor and delete these blogs and bulletins because they have NOTHING to do with the reason we all added this page to our friends list to begin with.

If you had created this page "Liz" then you might be able to say when it has exhausted it's purpose or in fact, what it's main purpose is. It was created and is run by private citizens in order to promote ideas that are obviously very important to them and many others. There now seems to be a difference in opinion between the creators of this page and other private citizens like yourself. This is no reason to be uncivil and make factually inaccurate statments against them.

The only thing factually inaccurate is the idea of Gore endorsing Obama. It says right on the main page that the people behind this myspace are "activists seeking to have Mr. Al Gore run for the democratic nomination in 2008". It does NOT say "we are citizens trying to promote our political beliefs by using Mr. Gore's face" which is what this has turned into. People added this page to their friends list because they supported the effort to draft Gore...it's wrong of the creators to then attempt to use Mr. Gore's name to influence the way people vote, and attempt to put some credibility to what they are saying by attempting to spread a "rumor" that Mr. Gore is going to endorse Obama. It's unethical.

Thank you for straightening out the rumors. You did a great job correcting the rumor. Sadly I participated in spreading that rumor. Will verify deeper next time and send a bulletin and blog that Gore did not endorse Obama. I wanted to believe that Gore endorsed Obama as Edwards dropped out.



Really appreciate you for doing this. We disagree on candidates but I find you to have integrity and grace especially when the posters display a great lack of good-manners. Since when is acting like a bully and having temper tantrums benifited our country? Oh yeah..... The Bush Administration behaves that way and look where that got us.

I don't think it has as much to do with Obama as teh Gore's dislike for the Clinton's. It's pretty well documented that Al Gore is no fan of Hilary. Read the Vanity FAir article below... Basically Al feels the DNC diverted attention (funds) from his presidential campaign to get Hilary elected in NY. That and BC's impeachment scandle in his final year cost him votes....

I just received a message from MYSPACE that this will be investigated. If you want to promote the candidate of your choice, make your own page and don't lie and try to trick people. Sources: Gore won't endorse

(CNN) – He's the most prominent Democrat yet to take a side in the presidential election, but two sources close to Al Gore tell us not to expect the former vice president to endorse either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama any time during the primary season.

The sources say Gore talks with both Clinton and Obama, and is on good terms with both. But with Sen. John Kerry and Bill Clinton both aligned to a candidate, Gore has a role to serve as the neutral elder statesman in the party.

If an agreement needs to be struck between Clinton and Obama down the road, Gore is in position to be the likely facilitator of that discussion.

Gore also will want to work closely with whoever wins the nomination to promote an environmental agenda.

As for two other major Democrats yet to endorse a candidate: sources close to both Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi say neither individuals have endorsement plans.

Y'all, I think it's called the First Amendment....I'm sure if President Gore knows about this page and if he or his organization were unhappy with it in any way they would make sure it was no longer in existence. It's not that hard to find, and it's well known, and he is, after all, one of the most popular men in the free world. This isn't brain surgery.

If you don't like what the keeper of this page has to say, that's fine - make your comments in a civil and honest manner - or don't. But complaining to Myspace smacks of a little girl running to Mommy and saying "Mommy, make him quit!"

The best way of showing your displeasure of this person's views and comments is to simply remove them from your Friends and don't visit this page.

The only way Al Gore will learn about this page is if people DO report it to Myspace. There are literally THOUSANDS of websites on the internet. Al Gore and his staff are not aware of every site that makes claims in his name until they are reported. How are Gore's supporters to know what is real and what is not if things like this are not verified? Nice ending to your comment though...'Duh'.
