IN A FRIGGIN PRESS RELEASE AS A SONGWRITER.

World traveller and Edmonton-born Canadian songwriter
Lorelei Loveridge, now an expatriate resident of
Manchester, England has managed in 16 days and
with the help of her Facebook friends to build
a fan-base of 1500+ international peers through her
online Facebook group:

PERFORMING SONGWRITERS (UNITED WORLDWIDE).

It was in response to the closure of a U.S. magazine
that served this niche of artists from the independents
to the established worldwide.

She's also managed to get her personal Facebook account
(plus band page and all links to the PSUW group) shut down.

Facebook's system of checks and balances 'disabled' her account
because Loveridge tried to get to know the people joining her group,
and the struggle is on to get Facebook to re-activate her account.

Disappointment over Performing Songwriter
magazine's sudden closure,
due to a certain rough economic future
over the withdrawal of funding for the magazine,
prompted a response from Loveridge who
subscribed to the magazine for
the 11 years she lived in Saudi
(it always passed the censors).

She looked online for an international group
of performing/working artists and, finding none,
established her own group - for the purposes of connecting
with peers and fostering support and better practices
among and by artists and promoters alike.

Plans to carry on with a YouTube 'movie night'
where performing songwriters in the group
introduce themselves and talk about their issues,
publicly, are on hold until the situation is resolved with Facebook -
which earlier banned another of the songwriters
in the group, James Lawless, for a month
in an unrelated incident of a similar nature.

An attempt to actually get to know the members of the group has,
in fact, backfired on Loveridge.

Yet Facebook's policies all point to the need
to actually 'know' the people one is befriending.

So, it's a numbers game.

Loveridge has posted a YouTube video on the wall of PSUW.
And the hours add up while PERFORMING SONGWRITERS (UNITED WORLDWIDE)
ask where Lorelei is and wait for their leader to return.
