First the great news:
Mom made it through open heart surgery and has been doing great! Hopefully fixing the large hole in her heart will improve her health and her life. The surgery was on Monday July 20th. I went to the hospital in Louisville to stay with her Sunday night and didn't come back home until Saturday July 25th. I planned on coming home on my birthday, on the 23rd, but mom went into atrial defibrillation that day. Her heart rate went above 160! Of course, I could not leave after that, at least not for a couple of days until I knew she was ok. Thank you to all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts her way. She is doing very well now. I am leaving early in the morning to go to Louisville and bring her home.
The very sad news:
When I finally came home on Saturday July 25th, Natasha was in bad shape. As the night went on, she got worse. She died in my arms just before 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Natasha Marie, my baby girl, may have been just a 16 yr old cat to everyone else, but to me she was my daughter. My heart is broken. I miss you baby girl...
