What's up everyone?! Hope everyone is enjoying Halloween with their family and friends. Just wanted to send out a quick note about the comments recently on the page. It's understandable that many people are very passionate about their political views. Be kind and please keep your comments rated G in respect for the other members and children who often visit this page. This page is a medium for all Parrotheads to come together and share stories, pics, listen to music and reconnect with fellow Parrotheads everywhere. Please keep foul language and harsh comments off the page. Politics and religion are two things that always manage to bring the very best and worst out of people. Please be thoughtful of others and keep this page clean and free of negative and hate filled words/thoughts. Again, this MySpace page is supposed to cultivate happy and positive feelings for everyone. Respect everyone and their political beliefs and voice your opinion by getting out there and voting.

Remember it takes more muscles to frown than smile so turn that frown upside down.
:o)

Fins up everyone and have a great Halloween!

Happy Belated Halloween everyone! Jimmy, you are 100%! This myspace is for us to be able as parrot heads break away from the politics and religious aspects of our life. This economic slump has really hurt my family financially, but I need and look forward to joining my fellow parrot heads, Jimmy and the Coral Reefer Band to escape from our economic pain. We are all hurting and we just need to "breath in, breath out, move on". Love you all! Trish McFadyen, Jefferson, SC

Really folks, pick and day to do a random act of kindness, have a margarita, relax soon this mess will end and your mail boxes will not be filled with political papers, on to better things, and anyway there is a party at the end of the world, meet you there, you'll know me by the drink in my hand, a smile on my face, and the assured look of, it has been a great trip around the sun. Get out your pencil thin mustache and have some fun, keep it clean, fins up gang.

Obama Lie No. 1 — I will tax just the rich.

There is no such thing as a tax on just the rich. Taxes on wealthy people affect everyone.
Remember, Obama defines anyone making over $90,000 a year as "rich."
Joe the plumber discovered that Obama thinks Joe's rich too. Under Obama, he won't be able to hire new employees and grow his business.
Joe's not alone. Obama says he'll strip away the FICA cap at $90,000 for every worker. That means every dollar you earn over that amount, you'll pay 7 percent!

____________________________________
Obama Lie No. 2 — I want to give a tax cut to the middle class.

Baloney!
Obama says he will let the Bush tax cuts expire. That's an automatic 5 percent (maximum) tax increase on almost all taxpayers.
Plus middle class folks pay capital gains taxes. Obama has said he wants to almost double them from a low of 15 percent to almost 30 percent.
He wants to hike the dividend tax, and he also has promised taxes on gas and energy.
Obama also wants to dramatically increase the estate tax, which had almost disappeared. There goes your idea of sharing your wealth with your kids in the future.

____________________________________
Obama Lie No. 3 — I want to make America more secure.

Another outright lie.
In an age when crazies like Iran's Ahmadinejad are building ballistic missiles and promise to "destroy" the United States and Israel, Obama has promised to gut the missile defense program created by President Reagan.
"I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems," Obama said.
He has promised to cut "tens of billions" of dollars from the Defense Department. In an effort to make us more "secure," Obama plans to disarm us.
In the age of 9/11 can we afford such a radical Leftist in the White House?
No, we can't.

Grand Macaw: You are dead on accurate.

Jimmy: I never cared for your music until my wife got me to attend one of your concerts and I was an immediate convert. We were even very honored to have been displayed in the video played during Volcano in 2008! The escapism and free spirit of your show has truly been tainted by your endorsement of ANY political candidate. We are sorely disappointed that you felt compelled to spoil the political innocence of your persona. Yes, Bush is the worst President in political history since Jimmy Carter but your entertainer status should never have crossed into the political spectrum.

Since you feel so compelled to endorse Jimmy Carter, Jr., we would like to ask that you redistribute your wealth to us by offering us a 40-50% discount on tickets for your show in 2009. That would be what your guy would ask of you, so we're happy to cut out the middle man and accept a direct discount, minus bureaucratic expenses...

Thanks for ruining the innocence of the experience you provide at your concerts. And we humbly beg you to NOT interject politics into ANY of your shows. That would mark the end of many folks' loyal patronage to you, including ours. Please don't spoil what has made you so successful over all these years.

Oh, I had no idea that Jimmy is/has already performed at an Obama rally and endorsed Obama for president. I'll still enjoy JB's music now and again, but am now completely aware that he's a completely uneducated ASS-hat zillionaire, and just another Latte Liberal.

What was that sound?

The sound of former buffet fans slamming the door on their way out.

"Personalities" should learn that at LEAST a third or more of their audience will be alienated by such political endorsements, but when you've taken as much of your fans' money as JB has, you can afford to open your idiotic mouth and kiss us off. You don't HAVE to care any more, you've got the "FU money" to do what you want.

Oh, and BTW, just about every buffett song sounds like the one before it, so no great loss not listening to the music any more...

It's amazing to me, how Jimmy Buffett fans can listen to all of this fine music, identify with this life-celebratory philosophy, and STILL just not "get it". Not that there really is an appropriate place, but a JB forum is certainly NOT the place to be verbally or spiritually violent to each other.
Sheesh!

Hope I see you in concert some day. Until then... I'll just lay back on the boat, rolling on the calm seas with your music playing in the background while I watch hubby and our son fish. Those are the times of life to focus on!!

I don't care for that on my space either, one woman asked me to put her in our top 40, thought that was a little unusual but obliged, next thing I knew she had a political plug as her picture, sooooo I took her out of my top 40, ours is a place for music also......whole heartedly agree, don't like side orders of politics or anything to controversial with my music. peace, love, and parrotheads, stephanie

Had a wonderful Halloween Party - played your music - played disco music and danced till 4:00 AM. Theme this year - Night of the Living Dead Disco. Costumes required! No matter how old we get - we like to have fun and still dress up at Halloween.... at least my friends do!

We all have a political oppinion, but this is the place to forget about all that and be at peace and laid back! Love being your friend on my space.

Well said; especially the part about politics and religion bringing out the best and the worst in people. It seems that this political season has by far been the most exciting and it feels as though it will never end. However, with that being said, it seems as though many are going to go off the political scene cold turkey. This should lengthen the tempers for at least another four years.
Thank you for being open and honest with your fans over the years. Your music has inspired many to motivate, encourage, and heighten the idea of free thinking for many others and because of this I would like to commend you on a life lived well. Please keep moving forward for you have not taken the last plane anywhere yet!

I don't understand first of all why JB had to endorse anybody. I don't see all this other famous artist endorsing candidates. I'm a strong McCain supporter and I know JB has lost fans due to him endorsing Obama. That holds true here in NC anyway.

Everyone has a right to endorse who they like. From Jimmy Buffett to every single Joe the plumbers and from single moms to Oprah. You are not a true fan or american if you can not support another person's right to their own opinion. So, if your friends support Obama, you are not their friend???? They would be better off, if that is the type of person you are. There are plenty of celebrities in all fields endorsing their favorite candidates, so I take it you no longer plan to see movies, watch television, listen to the radio, etc. I am not a political person IN ANY FASHION, but those who think like you, close minded, MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY types......just frustrate me enough to reply on blogs.

It is sad when this happens anywhere, the internet seems to make some people they can say anything without consequences. This also happened on a message board on a quilting site I used to belong to. Even little old (and young) quilters can get into it. My grandmother taught me if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Phins up everyone!!

As for foreign policy -- Sarah my be able to see Russia from some places in Alaska . . . but for that matter, I can see the moon from my front porch -- that doesn't make me qualified to be a flippin ASTRONAUT!! LOL!!
Please people, I don't care who you vote for -- JUST VOTE!

As for me, I'm with Bubba! I chose to vote for a candidate who was smart enough to pick a running mate with an IQ higher than a 2 digit number. This time around, I want a a smart President. ::WINK::

For those of you who want to vote Grumpy McSame and Caribou Barbie -- ??? I can't figure out why . . . but respect your decision. So get out there and vote.

Now, for the bible thumping fanatics: "Threatening" Jimmy that you will no longer be his "fan" because he is smart enough to make a wise decision regarding his pick for Presidential Candidate (and GOD WILLING the next President of the United States) -- I am assuming (and I know to assume makes an A** out of U and ME -- but you've already gone ahead and done that to yourself, so what the heck . . . If I get down to your level and speak in REALLY small words -- your might be able to understand me) that you've never heard Jimmy's lyrics that say: "My head hurts, my feet stink and I don't love Jesus" or "I don't go to church and I don't cut my hair". If you had I'm sure you would have had no sense of HUMOR and would have hit the delete button on him as a friend a long time ago! So be gone. Jimmy's true fans would never leave him for anything -- you're not Parrot Heads, your a bunch of red, green, and blue spray painted TURKEYS! (Thanksgiving is comming -- so I suggest you make haste in your leaving!)
