I am still stunned that Jimmy Buffett, the man who has utilized capitalism to amass a great fortune better than almost any other American performer in the history of recorded music, supported a socialist candidate for President. While I am a staunch fiscal conservaitve, I could live with Buffett supporting Gore & Kerry, no matter how wrong-headed he was with those choices, but Barack Obama? No, that I cannot overlook.

My disappointment is so great that I will have to stop supporting Buffett Enterprises. No more concert tickets. No more Landshark Lager. No more Margaritaville Tequila. No more Buffett shoes or hats or tee shirts or swim trunks. No more Margaritaville shrimp. No more lunches at Cheeseburger in Paradise - conveniently located near work. No more trips to the Margaritaville Cafe on family trips to Orlando. And I am taking the Concotion Maker off my Christmas list.

All told, I'll save between $1,500 and $2,000 a year; a small amount of money to Bubba, perhaps, but I know of others who will be doing the same. Capitalism made Buffett. The freedom to choose under capitalism will, no doubt, cost him.

I notice you are still friends with Buffett on Myspace. If you have this much anger toward him maybe you should just unfriend him and do us all a favor. We actually still enjoy his music and his outlandish attire. You will not be missed my friend

Come on Joe, get real...do you really think it matters who's in charge? It's ALWAYS the lunatics running the asylum. I say screw it all and if you *like* all the things Buffett sells you, then who are you REALLY depriving when you refuse to buy? Don't live to make a statement....make a statement by living.

Peace brother

Freedom of choice and the American way, don't ever let politics guide your parrotheadness. I have a "step-father" that did the same thing back in the 80's when he didn't like who JB voted for, said, or whatever. This is America for crying out loud. Politics is politics, we and your family and friends should not have to suffer by not having you at a concert or wearing that shark fin on your head just because of who JB supported for President.

C'Mon man we all need you wearing, swearing, drinking and singing. :-)

No suffering here. And I won't feel deprived. Actually, with all the money my friends and I will save, we can just tailgate in our backyards - with the kids there too! We can grill some juicy steaks and boil some lobsters. We can mix our own drinks, just like in the parking lot. And we can swim in our pool with the tunes cranking from our stereo systems. We'll have more space to party, more friends and family to party with and more money to blow on food and alcohol. And, economically speaking, the local merchants could probably use the cash more than Buffett can.

One of the amazing opportunities we have as Americans is the right to work hard and make a living. You can't knock a man for doing that. Another right we have as Americans is the right to choose. Again, you can't knock a man for making a choice. You can have a disagreement about the outcome of that choice and have the right to say so. BE THANKFUL we can have that discourse. There are a lot of places in the world where you can't.

As far as not supporting Buffett Enterprises. The loss of something that you obviously enjoyed so much for so long will weigh much more heavily on you than on Buffett Enterprises. Be glad you could even think to put the Concoction Maker on your list when there are numerous Americans who can't even put food on the table. Be thankful that in this ecomony you have a job to take a family vacation from. Many others do not. I hope you will do something useful with that $1,500-$2,000. Buy stock, spend it, give it to charity. Just remember that Capitalism is bigger than any other force on the planet and none of us, as a singular consumer, really have an impact.

Way to go dude!!!!! To think that anyone would believe their $1500-$2000 of support to Buffett Enterprises would make an impact if withdrawn?? And haven't the Republicans led us into enough of an economical downfall? Who could survive another 4-8 yrs. of their domination? POWER TO THE PEOPLE, and God bless Jimmy Buffett. He has been an outstanding humanitarian and lover of the human race. Sounds like WE ARE THE PEOPLE OUR PARENTS WARNED US ABOUT!!!

Debra, Debra, Debra. Please read Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt. Next, find out what the Community Reinvestment Act was, who enacted it and who expanded it. Next, find out who wrote the Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act of 2005 in an effort to reign in Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac and find out who blocked its passage. Then tell me how in the world the Republicans are responsible for this mess.

When you're done with that, read The Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes and compare Hoover & FDR's Depression economic policies to Obama's proposals so you can see why Obama, if he blocks free trade and raises taxes as he has stated he will do, will be an economic disaster.
