Ok - can't sleep...so I figured I'd blog a little (reading always makes me tired! lol)Blue - as in Bluebird Cafe - yes - I'm playing there for the first time next Thursday! woohoo! I was chosen to be a part of Chick Singer Night...pretty cool (though I think they've thrown some dude into the mix...oh well...us chicks like dudes, so I guess that's ok! We need someone to look at, right girls? lol). The show's at 9pm CST and will also be streamed LIVE on the internet (thanks Julian!!) at UARADIO. For those in town, make sure you get your reservations!!!Hootie & The Blowfish - the Blowfish + H&TB songs = a HOOT!!
Yep - Darius Rucker ya'll! I've never been to a H&TB concert, but I got to see Darius...singing H&TB songs...so I'm calling it a Hoot concert! I know...dorky...whatever! What a show! He's amazing...sang some Darius songs, H&TB songs, country standards, and ended with......drum roll please....Purple Rain! (I hear this may be his next single?? - so cool....). Had a blast, went backstage, ended up at the Red Door....yes, late night...but totally worth it!! (Kudos to Johnathan!! Thank you so much!). p.s. Darius better get male vocalist of the year one of these years...that's all I'm sayin'....9 - as in District 9, the movie. Odd. Interesting. Sci-fi. Good popcorn. It's an independent film about aliens landing, or more like hovering, their ship above Johannesburg, South Africa. These aliens are called Prawns...why, you ask? They look like prawns! And they become the deadbeats of the city...so are kept within city limits. Some dude trying to evict them (like they know what that means) gets splashed with some special prawn liquid that's used to get them back to their planet, and he ends up slowly morphing into a prawn. Loses his human life as he once knew it. Strange movie, but good. Check it out!Cure - This Saturday I get to be a part of another Songs For The Cure house visit!! We're going to visit a man who has been through alot...and has just gotten out of the hospital and needs some cheering up! So, we're taking our songs and guitars and voices to bring a smile to his face!! What a wonderful feeling it is! I am so blessed to have the opportunity to "pay forward" and use a gift I've been given to help someone else. I mean, in all honesty, this is why I do what I do. This is the reason for writing and performing songs. It's not about the fame and glory that I'm after...It's about taking someone away from their reality for a few minutes, or making them think, smile, cry, laugh, love and live, by being entertained! If I can do that, then I am successful! (no matter what anyone else has to say about it.)
Well, I guess I'd better go now...I have to get to the gym early in the morning.....yay! Bring it...I'm ready! Good night everyone...
