Hello, it's Logan's sister again. In a little over a week, some great people are putting on a memorial celebration here in Petaluma for everyone. They've written up this description of it and everyone is invited! Please read:
---------------------------------------------

Logan Whitehurst Memorial Party : February 10th : Phoenix Theater : Petaluma : Free Admission

That's right - Logan is getting his very own party at the Phoenix Theater on February 10th, and you're invited to come along and celebrate in his amazing life. Meant as a way to fully enshrine the brilliant genius that is Logan Whitehurst, the night will include
photos, artwork, storytelling, and of course, music.

What's more, you - yes, you! - are encouraged to take part in the evening by performing some songs from Logan's vast repertoire. There will be a lot of musical equipment on the Phoenix stage for everyone to use (drums, guitar, bass, piano,
accordion, and more). If you learn a song to perform and sing, but you haven't
arranged any auxillary accompaniment, you will probably be able to talk someone into
backing you up, at least on drums.

Now's the fun part: what song will you perform in homage to Logan? Here's some of his songs that are already in the lineup and spoken for:

Schweepies
My Name Is Matlock
I Want To Live On The Moon
Goodbye, My 4-Track
What It's Like In Japan
What I Did (To The Cat)
We Are Fire Ants
I Want To Rock
Me & The Snowman
The Villain Who Wears No Pants
Spherical Dice
Lemmings Will Do Whatever
A Special Gift To You
Gentoo Penguins
Monkeys Are Bad People
Underwater Basket Weaving
Bryan Fernando Is Awesome

As you can see, it's heavy on the Very Tiny Songs. His older material is criminally under-represented at this point, and that's where you come in. Keep in mind that you could write your own song about Logan, too.

In related news, Dr. Demento is coming to be a part of the festivities, but we're not sure what he has planned yet.

Obviously this won't just be a musical performance - people are free to tell stories about Logan, revel in fond memories, do an interpretive dance of his various hairdos, or generally share his awesomeness in any form. The crazy thing is that it will probably be pretty fun, despite the unfortunate circumstances. But how could it not be
fun? It's Logan, for crying out loud.

If you'd like to perform any songs, or if you have any questions about
how you can be involved, please write to josh@pandacide.com, or send a message to
Pandacide.

Thanks, and hopefully you can make it. Vanilla will be glad to see you.

--Friends of Logan
-------------------------------------------------------------

I think I'm going to make some of Logan's favorite cookies for the event -- chocolate with peanut butter chips!

If I can use an iPod or something through speakers as backup, I would like to claim Do the Confusion, if that's alright.

I wish I still lived in CA and could go to this. If I could get over my fear of talking in front of a crowd, I would totally re-enact the time Logan and I made shadow puppets on the LTF van outside of Big Shots in Roseville. That's one of my favorite memories of him...he had some really good shadow puppets.

I paid $100 to change my plane ticket so I could go to this. I'm sure it will be so worth it, though. I couldn't even imagine not going.

Dang, if I weren't on the other side of the US, I'd definitely come. I would love to know more of his work and genius. Perhaps someone can film it for the fans who can't be there. I'm glad that there is going to be such a great tribute for Logan!

I am pleased to say that my daughter, Katy and I were in attendance last night at Logan's Celebration.  (A journey to Logan Land, hurrah!)

It was a wonderful evening of tears, laughter, music and gratitude.

Emily, I enjoyed your cookies, but I wished you were there.  I sent my love to you with your dad.

As always, my heart is with you all....and blessings in your journey of healing.

Love,

Nora Kelly

I'm sorry I only heard about this now, I wish I was there.. I'd have finally been able to perform the song I wrote about the Very Tiny Songs project that in turn inspired #79: James Wrote A Song About Me.

I will, though. ...as soon as i figure out how to play this guitar. :)

I don't know if anyone will see this, but just in case you didn't get to go, I recorded the concert and put it online:
