It is one thing to decide to walk 1000kms … when it's your journey and an issue close to your heart. When you are the one who receives the recognition and the support. But what about those that I could not do this without?
Danni Pomfret and Mark Scalia have given their time, effort and energies to buy into my dream and to come along for the journey.
While I knew both Mark and Danni before the journey – they were not people who I thought I would ever be this close to. However, looking back I think I did recognise qualities in both of them that I also shared – a sense of adventure, a desire for unique experiences, and a passion to make a difference and disprove negative youth stereotypes.

So everyday while I'm walking, Danni & Mark are hard at work. They're fielding enquiries, organizing meetings, dealing with schools, planning the route, cooking me meals and motivating me to do better.
Danni & Mark also do a great job at keeping it real. When you are passionate about an issue it is easy to get lost in it and lose sight of the bigger picture … it is sad when this happens because passionate people sometimes get frustrated with trying to get their message across and they become bitter and lose their ability to communicate with the masses. However at the same time, it is that enthusiastic passion which will grab and hold people's attention in the first place. It is always a fine line to tread and it is not easy to do but Mark & Danni are great at getting me to take time off and appreciate the joys of being young (like surfing, going to the beach, catching a movie, and listening to music etc)

And it's also the little things that get me through … its hiding my favourite chocolate bar in the groceries for me to discover, or purchasing my favourite magazine to read over breakfast. It's giving me the privacy to talk to my friends and family, and its cracking jokes, putting on my favourite music and making me cups of tea – these are the things that get me through.
Walking a 1000kms might require courage, determination and faith – but to buy into someone else's dream, and to take time out of your life to join them – and to support them through the hard times with little glory or reward is perhaps a much more honorable feat.
Sometimes I wonder how I got myself in to this situation … how did a young 22 year old girl with practically no relevant experience, manage to convince herself that she could undertake such a mammoth task? But whenever I have doubts, I look at the two people traveling with me and I realize that not only did I convince myself that I could do it, but I also convinced others. These are two people who believe in what I am doing enough to put their own lives, careers and journeys on hold to support me on mine … and for this I will be eternally grateful.
We are 2 weeks away and although I am now close to Sydney, it does look like these last days will be the biggest challenge. I read and appreciate every email and message of support that I receive, but this week I would like to ask people to send messages of support to my team. We are all exhausted and require strength to face these last challenges and your letters of support will make a massive difference to re-energising us:
