As many of you may know, I'm a huge Aaron Rowand fan. (Hence the NL vote campaign I've been lodging. Vote for Rowand!) So when I checked the calendar and discovered the Giants would be in New York on July 8th, I had to buy tickets. The game itself was lackluster. Tim Lincecum was not his usual dominant self giving up a homerun to Carlos Beltran in the first and then one to Carlos Delgado in the sixth and notching only 4 Ks in the game. Plus the Giants offense was even more anemic against Mike Pelfrey and Rowand managed only an infield single in the game.
But on the bright side I did get to see the homerun apple three times (Fernando Tatis hit a homer in the 7th) and I witnessed Mets rookie Argenis Reyes get both his first career hit (a single) and his first career run. Oh and it was Giants first baseman Brian Bowker's 25th birthday. Plus it was Jets night so they paraded out a couple of players from the 60s and 70s who played at Shea before the Jets were kicked out and moved over to the Meadowlands. Funny how time makes you forget that ugliness. Anyway, it ended up being a fun night and the weather was absolutely perfect in the seats. Somewhere in the 70s with a nice breeze off the water, perfect baseball weather.
I added few photos from the night, so check them out. And don't forget, I'm heading to the Homerun Derby and All-Star game next week so look for photos from those events around Wednesday or Thursday.
